Test out the other swap functions

Ruby had time to spare and the remote’s power was far too tempting to ignore. With Blake’s arrival, she had an entirely new target. Peeking over her book to make sure Blake and Weiss were preoccupied, Ruby aimed the remote. Her finger hovered between the Body Swap and Personal Information button. Both were easy to test without the risk of Personality. While the Life Swap instincts could be suppressed, she didn’t know if a new personality could. Her finger finally fell on the Body Swap button and there was a flash of light.

Ruby blinked and looked down at her body. There were only a few noticeable differences. The first, she was taller. Even laying down, her body took up much more space than she had before. The second, and perhaps the biggest difference, was everything suddenly got louder. Ruby’s hearing improved exponentially. A shaking hand rose to her head and she felt a soft sensation of a cat ear. Her eyes darted over to Blake. Ruby experienced the weird sensation of seeing herself wearing the Beacon uniform, a black suit with a red skirt, reading a book. Blake’s black bow was tied up on her head. Normally, the bow covered her ears. This time, there couldn’t be anything under there.

“Eep!” Ruby squeaked and dove off her bed to flee into the bathroom. Both Weiss and Blake looked at her for a moment and then each other.

“What was that about?” Weiss asked. Blake shrugged and they went back to what they were doing. Ruby could get excited over so many things. It was just part of living with her.

In the bathroom, Ruby was studying her reflection.

Blake’s amber eyes stared back at her. Ruby shivered in excitement and examined her new face closely. Her head felt heavy because Blake had significantly more hair than she did. Not as much as Yang though. Ruby liked short hair. It didn’t get in the way when she was fighting. She brushed a strange of black hair out of her face and then her eyes traveled upwards. Two black cat ears sat proudly on her head. They blended in seamlessly with her hair.

“…so cuuuute!” Ruby squealed. They were so soft and smooth, like velvet. Blake never offered Ruby the opportunity to touch her ears. She rubbed them for another minute and a strange sound escaped her throat. “Did…did I just purr?” She blinked when her brain processed the voice she was speaking with. “This is Blake’s voice. The body swap switched it with mine. I guess that makes sense. Vocal chords are part of the body.”

Ruby twirled around and admired her body. Her clothes were still the same as she only swapped bodies. They had changed to accommodate her new body size though. Her dress was a little longer because of her height and the chest area had increased slightly. Ruby wasn’t small by any means and she was still growing while drinking plenty of milk. Blake was just older. Thus had longer for her body to develop. Her chest wasn’t nearly as impressive as Yang’s, but it was nothing to sneeze at.

“Weiss would be soooo jealous.” Ruby laughed. Her cat ears rose up and Ruby tilted her head. As a test, she thought of something sad, like when they ran out of cookies and saw her new ears drop. “Sooooo cute!” She repeated. “Even though I understand why Blake wants to hide being a Faunus… is she still a Faunus?” Ruby checked her school ID and saw she was still listed as human. “So that didn’t get changed. Body Swap is really just that, a swap of bodies.” Feeling up her ears one last time before leaving, Ruby exited the bathroom.

“You okay?” Blake asked.

“Yep,” Ruby replied happily. She could feel her ears reacting to her excitement. “How’s your day been, Blake?”

“Same old,” Blake replied. “Classes are done and I can relax.” When Blake looked at Ruby, there was no indication she saw anything unusual.

“You don’t have to study?” Ruby asked and the corner of Blake’s lips twitched upwards.

“Blake’s grades are near the top,” Weiss stated firmly. “Her study habits are fine.”

“I’m not worthy of your praise,” Blake muttered sarcastically.

“Sheesh, I’m trying to raise my grades.” Ruby huffed and crossed her arms. If she had been staring in a mirror, she probably would have laughed seeing Blake make that expression. “Is it time to meet up with Yang yet?” Weiss glanced at her scroll.

“Yes,” she confirmed. “We will be a little early, but that’s preferable. Yang would probably eat without us if she finished early.” Weiss paused and scratched behind Zwei’s ear. Zwei was Ruby’s corgi she was hiding in their room. He was currently sleeping halfway under her desk.

“She would,” Ruby agreed and then turned to Blake. “Coming?”

“Sure,” Blake agreed and set down her book. Past experience told her if Yang was still upset losing to Pyrrha, her book would end up covered in food. The door closed behind them with a bang and Ruby fiddled with the remote in her pocket. The urge to continue to use it was strong.
