Chapter 263 by SilverSpectre006 SilverSpectre006

What's next?

Ten minutes earlier...

"GIT DOWN!"

Felix felt someone pull him by his collar into the ground, nearly crashing as he was met with Nyitzcha below him. The look in her eyes introduced a terror inside, he had never seen her so scared before. Her tough and rigid composer was gone, but she wasn't cowering either. As they fell together, a strong gust of wind blew right over them accompanied by a lingering figure standing nearby.

Spi'Reto had ducked in time as well, rolling on his back and fishing out an arrow to strike. His bloodied fingers caused the arrow to slip, his hand frantically felt the ground in search for it as he stared above them.

Nyitzcha pulled Felix in close so that their bodies touch, her hand sliding down his thigh briefly. He was puzzled, now wasn't the time for that!

"Stay close, laddie." She whispered into his ear as her hand reached for her belt and dug into her pouch. With a fistful of pellets, she launched them into the air as one by one each bead popped on impact like tiny firecrackers. Rolling around, both Felix and Nyitzcha stood up as whatever attacked them stepped back and waved its arms clumsily. Whatever this was, its body was unlike any other animal. It was odd and irregular, one arm being disproportionate from the other in size. Its outline looked blocky and the body appeared to end in a rounded hunch, with no head present.

The only light source in the room belonged to the enchanted in the hands of the maid. It glared at the pair and displayed a large ray of light onto them, illuminating them like a spotlight would on its desired target. At last they could see but only just, reaching out Felix could practically touch the darkness once his hand escaped the rays. Nyitzcha dug into her satchel and glanced down to find a trickling liquid dripping from the bag down her leg.

"Crud."

Spi'Reto grasped the hilt, retrieving his arrow. "We need light!"

"I don't, stay behind me." Felix planted his feet firmly apart, stepping in front of his half-size wife as the noise surrounding them grew louder. Nyitzcha caught a glimpse of his eyes before pulling back, admiring the focus of his glare as his cat eyes saw through the darkness as if it were nonexistent. Pressing on his back, she dug around her soggy satchel and seamlessly tossed around a few items, feeling for the correct item while shrouded in darkness. The only light source in the room came from the mysterious crystal ball held in the maids hands above her head.

"Spi'Reto, it's coming from your left!"

In a state of urgency and reflex, the young elf rolled aside as something smashed into the stone floor, the sound was similar to two boulders colliding. The crystal ball glared furiously at the elf on the ground as its bright light fell to his body. It was then he caught his quiver full of arrows just a few paces away. Crawling on his elbows, he reached out right as a large pillar met with him and made his quiver flat.

Nyitzcha covered her mouth and gasped, sticking close to Felix. Spi'Reto whined in defeat as only two arrows survived the impact once the large rock lifted up on its own. He slowly followed its movement as he began taking in the large size of this creature. That was no rock which fell on his arrows, it was an arm. So this is why its shape was greatly uneven with a deformed outline, this monster was unnatural.

The large rock tilted to the side, its hunch adding to the difficulty of movement to this thing. The arms were rough in texture, unlike any armor or skin of an organic presence. No face, no eyes, nothing that matches the traits of a head, just a large rounded stone pressed to the front of this creatures body.

"It's some sort of rock, earth monster thing." Felix heard himself beginning to stutter. Nyitzcha squeezed his leg and held it tight.

"Nay, dats a Golem."

"A Golem!?" Felix cried out.

The maid let out a low chuckle, keeping the crystal ball as high as she could. "Golems are large creatures created by bonding a summoned spirit to an inanimate object, it lacks free will and intellect, roaming around as a mindless, obedient husk. Their size and stature make them extremely clumsy but their immense strength and durability is not to be underestimated."

"Blimey. How many?" Nyitzcha asked.

"Three." Felix answered, "One behind us and two in front."

"Den is time we git serious. Cover me, husband. Momma needs t'do some cookin' first." Nyitzcha dropped her bag and fell on her knees, her hands quick in movement at finding the correct ingredients for her next move. "It will be hard nut havin' eyes 'n all but... is never easy in d'heat o' battle is it?"

"I guess not- Spi'Reto behind you!" Felix watched as Spi'Reto looked to him in shock before throwing himself forward, shielding his face and preparing for the worst. A sharp arm impacted where he once stood, creating a slight crater into the ground. Spi'Reto spun around, swinging his elven dagger back with a fierce grunt. The friction of blade and stone created brief sparks, the elf expected to achieve nothing from his counterattack.

These are rock creatures after all, if he had his full arsenal of arrows it wouldn't change a thing. How do you fight what isn't really living?

Crawling back in a flurry, Spi'Reto flipped backwards in an impressive athletic feat to land on his feet. The ray of pink light had now moved, flickering as it changed targets before falling on the dwarf. Nyitzcha appreciated the soft light as it helped her see what she was doing now. She smiled with confidence, eagerly mixing the contents into a wooden bowl in her hand.

Felix looked back and felt his heart jump, scooping Nyitzcha up and spinning back just in time to avoid the Golems arm slamming roughly into her. It followed soon, swinging its body in circles with its large arms spread out, the sound of grinding stone filled their ears. Nyitzcha casually dug into her pouch and let go a handful of pellets, Felix recognized them as they bounced and scattered along the floor until reaching the Golem's tiny rock feet.

BANG! BA-BANG! BANG!

Felix had spun around to shield her from the blast, squeezing his eyes tight and preparing for the worst. The number of blasts allowed Spi'Reto to see this clumsy creature collapse into a pile of rounded stone and rock. With its feet blown away, its weight became its undoing and the Golem toppled forward, losing it's figure.

However, something began to glow from its body. Printed on the surface of the larger rock was some sort of incantation, the source of its living essence had been discovered. That their would be their weakn-

BAM!

Felis gasped as Spi'Reto was thrown ten feet into the air, slamming hard into the ground with his bow and arrows following his unconscious form. Looking back, his vision was blocked by two more Golems preparing to squash them. With Nyitzcha still in his arms, he jumped back as four large arms fell inches in front of them both, the force of impact was enough to push them off their feet and send them sliding along the floor.

"Shyaaa!" Nyitzcha screeched, "Me mix! Dammit dat was a fine mix!"

The crystal ball displayed its beam of light onto them now, revealing the dwarfs chest to be covered in some sort of black gooey mix. Gritting her teeth, she decided to undo the clips on her chest plate, pulling it loose and leaving her chest covered by a tight top around her breasts. Most of the concoction was dripping down that disc of armor in her hands, which gave her an idea.

"Fuck it." She mumbled as she reached for the final ingredient, pouring a bottle of white powder which made the slimey substance began to sizzle and churn. From his eyes, Felix thought it was burning into the metal plate. This made the little dwarf giggle to herself as she tossed her chest plate like a Frisbee toward the two Golems, sliding along the ground and landing between them.

Mesa stared in odd silence, wondering what it was meant to do. Suddenly the coated mixture atop the discs surface began to burn a fiery red hot mess before expanding immensely without warning. Nyitzcha spun around and held her husband tight, surprising him with a deep kiss.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!
