E: Why the fuck would I have sex with her? She’s twice my age.

Raising his brow, Ethan wonders what backend conversation is going on. Hopefully, Layla is telling Heather the same thing, if she’s even being asked. Ethan also hopes she’ll leave out all the staring.

Ethan sees dots, but they quickly vanish. After waiting a moment, he cuts in.

E: You okay?

H: No

Instant dots keep Ethan’s thumbs at bay.

H: Sorry I made things weird. Things seemed to be getting better between us and I was hoping that maybe you were thinking of us getting back together.

Staring at the screen, Ethan leans back in his chair.

On some level, he wanted to. He really, REALLY wanted to. But things had changed. He’s changed.
