That afternoon?
Tar and Phil go out.
When Tar got home from work that afternoon, Phil pounced excitedly. “Hey, we should head out tonight?”
Tar stopped, wondering where this was coming from, “All of a sudden?”
Phil shrugged, “Last night reminded me of how much I like meeting new people and sex. God, I have missed sex.”
Tar laughed, “So what are you suggesting?” he asked.
“Mythfolk & Mingle, it’s a new bar which has opened up. I thought we should check it out,” Phil replied.
“Do they do food there?” Tar asked.
Phil nodded, “Supposed to have great steaks.”
“Fly or walk?” Tar asked.
Phil laughed, “How about you fly? I catch a cab. Leave in half, have dinner, then spend the rest of the night having a few drinks and meeting new people?”
Just over an hour later saw the roommates walk into the bar. The greeter, a fit-looking satyr, wearing very little, greeted them. “Good evening,” he said, “do you have a booking?”
Phil nodded and gave his details. Tar smiled at the satyr, “Uniform?” he asked.
The satyr nodded, “I do get good tips from many of the female clientele, though, so I can’t complain too much.”
“Tattoos suggest you are of the Bura’dak tribe. A long way from the portal,” Tar commented.
“Trust a griffon to be well travelled. Yes, I am Bura’dak, and this is the ultimate adventure. So it was worth the journey.” He gestured towards a table, slightly high set for griffon and centaurs alike. “Some of the more drunk women sometimes become a little handsy, which I don’t mind, but my boss frowns upon.”
Phil laughed, “How do they become handsy?”
“Well, they want to know if there is anything under this kilt,” he said. “They want to know if I am wearing underwear. Sometimes, when they find I am not, they take the opportunity to explore me.”
Phil laughed again as he pulled up a seat, “Sounds like a job I would like,” he joked.
Phil and Tar ordered some food and drink and continued to chat idly as they waited for the food.
After several minutes their food came to the table. As it did, their waiter walked back past and placed a drink in front of Tar. “I didn’t order a second,” he said in his native tongue.
The waiter smiled and looked in the direction of a pair of women at the bar before leaving.
“Really?” Phil said, “We are here for fifteen minutes, and someone wants to jump you.”
Tar shook his head, “Maybe they are just being friendly,” he said.
Phil laughed, “My friend, you have a lot to learn about human courtship. If one of those ladies bought you a drink, and they both keep looking over here, they are interested.”
Tar shook his head, “Human courtship is strange. If they are interested, why not come over and say so?”
“No,” Phil laughed, “They bought you a drink. It’s an invitation. You should go over there and say thank you, who knows, maybe they want to give you something else as well.”
Does Tar head over?
