Talking to the mayor

As we passed by the fields of a few different crops I saw a dozen or 2 farmers at work, some stopped to look at us mostly with surprised expressions but none stopped us, as we reached the town itself we were stopped by an older woman who was beating out a rug "Cassidy dear what brings you to town and who's your tall friend?" Cassidy turned towards her with a smile "it's good to see you aunty, this is sienna she's staying with us at the farm, also have you seen the mayor we need to talk to him." the old woman looked at me before saying out loud "staying at the farm?" now looking at Cassidy again "did Henry finally find himself a wife? I know Marcus has been worried about you both getting married." chuckling I said "sadly he hasn't proposed yet but I think he likes me." the old woman started chuckling too "he's best hurry before someone else snaps you up." she stopped after a moment and looked at Cassidy again "you said you were looking for the mayor? I believe he went to help in the fields west of town." thanking the old women we went straight through town and towards the field keeping an eye out, after a couple minutes we spotted a stout middle aged man lecturing a teenager and Cassidy said he was the mayor,

walking up to him he looked at us, he greeted Cassidy and told him we need to talk preferable in private, sending the teenager to go help another farmer we walked to the tree line before talking, the mayor started "so what's happened and who's your friend?" Cassidy replied "the farm was attacked by goblins who were led by a hobgoblin and this is the woman who saved us, meet sienna." the mayor's eyes went wide "attacked by goblins? Is your brother and father alright?" Cassidy replied "Henry is on bedrest and father is a little shaken but they'll recover, more importantly sienna thinks they came from a dungeon." The mayor looked deeply concerned at this point. "I've heard more dungeons have been opening but if one is close enough to raid your farm then we're all in danger, let's go to my home so I can get the details and write a letter."

Entering his home we sat down at a table as he grabbed some paper and ink before he asked us to tell him what happened, Cassidy started "the goblins attacked at dawn, they used arrows to injury my brother and father then their orc overpowered me, they stole metal, food, and our livestock along with taking my brother and me captive but left father probably because of his injuries, they also seemed to have accidently burned down our barn." I took over from there "I found them because of the smoke, when I got there Marcus told me what happened and I went after them, I managed to catch up to them then ambushed them, I killed the hobgoblin first running him through before he could react, then overpowered the orc and finally I killed the 10 goblins one by one, luckily some of the fled so I wasn't overwhelmed but I managed to hunt them all down before they escaped." the mayor looked at me with surprise "you're a warrior then?" "barbarian to be precise." he finished what he was writing before looking at me again "thank you for saving 3 of my people, if you need anything let me know." I nodded before he said "I'm going to go find someone to take this letter to the hunters guild, are you going to head home?" Cassidy said "probably, we have some repairs to take care of." the mayor nodded and we left his home.

As we began leaving town I decided to mess with Cassidy a little so I asked "so Marcus is worried about you 2 getting married?" Cassidy looked at me with annoyance before answering "yes he has been, theirs not a lot of people around our age in this village and father doesn't want us to marry someone much older or younger." thinking about it I asked "how old are you 2 anyways?" "were both 22, were twins in case you didn't notice, how old are you?" "21" I said with a grin, Cassidy stopped for a second before turning to me "your younger than us?!" obviously surprised "that shocked, do I look that old?" "what no, I didn't mean it like that, I guess I just didn't think about your age." having a terrible idea and deciding I didn't care about the consequences I got close to her and whispered in her ear "you know I could marry you." Cassidy went rigid for a moment before shoving me and speed walking ahead while I tried not to die from laughing.

I let Cassidy have her distance on the way back to the farm and as we got closer we saw Marcus pulling weeds from the field. Noticing us he stopped what he was doing and walked towards us yelled "how'd it go?!" Cassidy replied first "besides Sienna being a bitch it went well!" Marcus looked confused for a moment before I responded from a far bit behind her "it was a serious offer no need to be offended!" Cassidy turned around looking like she wanted to kill me before Marcus intervened, with the authoritative voice of a 100 dads he told me to stop teasing Cassidy after which we told him about the mayor sending a letter.

Cassidy looked at her father and asked if he needed any help pulling weeds to which he accepted, turning to me Marcus asked what I was going to do to which I replied "I'm going to go hunting?" looking a little surprised he asked what I was going to hunt "goblins." I responded.
