Chapter 8 by BlackMonosh BlackMonosh

What is it that you want?

Talk to Eyoab the emissary

You, together with Dietrich and a few of your trusted advisors, talked to Eyoab the following day to find out about what could be traded between your two nations. Both your countries were agricultural in nature, producing similar food such as wheat and barley. But you could offer things such as wool and other products made from it, as well as advanced glass products. In return, Axum could offer ivory and spices, and salt.

During the recess, you talked to Dietrich and your advisors.

"Salt?" Dietrich says. "We have salt!"

"Yes, we do, but it cost more three times the price if we are to produce it. I'm thinking of buying the salt, and then sell it at a higher price to profit. And you recalled what the emissary said when we showed our glass?"

"It's beyond what they have,"

"We're blessed with skill craftsmen. I'm sure that they can craft intricate design using the ivories we could buy from Axum and sell the things to our neighbors."

You and your advisors discussed some more before resuming the talk with Eyoab where you relayed what you intended to buy from the country and gathers the country's reciprocal purchase from you. After a lot of haggling, both sides finally settled on the deal.

"By the way, Eyoab, do you use messenger birds, and if so, do you bring them with you?" you asked.

"Yes, I do,"

"I would like to ask for a boon from your king. If he graciously grants it, I will personally ensure your trade fleet shall not be taxed for twelve months starting from today,"

Eyoab's eyes widened. "May I know what do you want to request from my king?"

"10,000 sets of your armor, shield and saber, to be delivered before the start of our trade,"

The emissary blinked and seem deep in thought before he nodded. "I understand, Your Majesty. I will relay the request immediately," he said before retiring to his quarter.
