Chapter 22 by TheFallacyGuy TheFallacyGuy

What do you want to talk about?

Talk about her profession and journey

"Why did you become an apothecary and a nomad?" you ask.

"Honestly, I don't really know." Emily answers: "It just kind of organically grew on me. I had this really grumpy teacher. You would have liked him, Jess. Constantly finding the most creative way to insult your work, always banging on about how we aren't cut out to survive in this field of study, but he always helped us the best he could, when he thought we weren't looking. He would always go the extra mile to teach us. He would start working on off days to "punish" our bad practices, using it as an excuse to help us through the parts we found difficult. I guess, come to think of it, he really helped me find out what I like about being an apothecary."

"Then what do you like about it?" Claire asks.

"I like helping people. I like herbs and making medicine. I like diving in deep to a field of study, discovering its secrets. I like traveling the world, even if I haven't been outside of The Manifest Belt yet."

"You started your journey traveling north?" you ask: "There is not exactly a lot of plants out here."

"Yeah, but that's exactly it. People need the medicine here more than most. Plus, there are some plants here and there, and they are usually completely unstudied. Who knows what kinds of diseases we can cure by these plants?"

"Hmm... so why all the way out here? How did you get to the orc camp?" you ask.

"I may have gotten a bit lost." Emily admits embarrassed: "I was in Undercreek, but that city is kind of large, so I headed northwest. I made a quick stop here at The Last Post befo-"

"You were here a few days ago?" Claire interrupts.

"Yeah, I only talked to the shopkeeper... Jason, I believe his name was to stock up on supplies and see if they needed any medicine I could sell before I headed west. I'd heard that south-west from here would be another town, so I made my way towards it."

"And then you somehow ended up at the orc camp." you state.

"Yeah, there are no visible landmarks to navigate after here, so it's actually kind of easy to get turned around a bit. I guess I was heading a bit more north than I thought." she nods.

"It's pretty lucky we found our way back to here after the whole camp thing." you ponder.

"Yeah." she agrees.

"The town you meant to go to was probably Hackwell." Claire explains.

"Yeah, I think that was it." Emily tries to remember.

"But that's like forty miles." Claire says: "Most people go south-west from Undercreek towards another town called Deepridge and then go north from there. The route from Deepridge to Hackwell is longer, but it has an established trail. Still, most people ride on horses to get there."

"Oh, I'm just not much for horse-riding." Emily says flustered. Did she walk all the way here?

Talk more or do something else?
