Take the bait

“How big we talking?”

Ashley gives Ethan a sly look. “You really want to know?”

“I’m asking aren’t I?”

“Now whose giving an evasive answer?”

Ethan chuckles, nodding in kudos to the fair play. “Fine. Yeah, I guess I do want to know.”

Pursing her lips, Ashley fights back a smile. “Well… Let’s leave it at ‘bigger than average’, but not quite ‘monster’ territory.”

“That’s kinda vague.” Ethan clicks his tongue, shrugging his shoulders. “Gonna need better than that.”

“Well, maybe one day you’ll see it for yourself. Is that better?”

“Much.” Ethan shrugs again. “But one day is too vague as well.”

Ashley chuckles, shaking her head. “You know. You’re taking this surprisingly well.”

“Huh?” Ethan raises a brow.

“The whole ‘town secret’ thing and me being… you know. You’re actually flirting with me.”

Ethan starts to say something, but finds his jaw catching. He is taking this well. Sure, he’s had a day to process it, but… “Huh…” Suddenly he feels self-conscious. Why the hell was he taking it so well? He might need to think about that.

Shaking it off for now, he decides he’s far enough into the date for a status check.
