Take a peek for yourself

You don't want to call the rest of your party over if this ends up being nothing. You take a step to the side, standing Straight in front of the entrance. You ball your hands into fists, forcing yourself to summon the confidence to check this mystery out on your own first. Just a few seconds down the hallway to make sure this thing goes somewhere, then back to tell the others, you remind yourself just before stepping over the threshold that serves as the boundary between the natural cave floor and the artificially flat stone floor. You aren't even three steps in, however, before you have to stop as the ground shudders violently for a moment. You stay still in the silence after the shaking stops, unsure of what exactly just happened.

It is only then that you hear the muffled shouting of your companions behind you. However, when you turn around to tell them you're safe, you instead come face to face with a massive slab of stone. "I'm here!" you immediately call out to them, pressing yourself against the stone to make sure they hear you. "There's a gap in the rocks nearby! There's a hidden switch!" you add, **** for them to get you out of this situation.

For a minute or so you hear muffled commotion as the three of them try to find what you're talking about. You can't make out what they're saying as they continuously talk over each other, but it soon becomes clear to you that they either can't find the hidden switch you're taking about or they can't reach it. You stay pressed against the slab to try and hear all you can.

Your heart falls when you hear Nell's deep voice bellow to you, "It looks like you're on your own, Rosa. There must be another way out of there. You just have to find it."

You sigh deeply. "You'll wait for me, right? I'll find a way out, don't you worry!" You hope that he'll give a positive answer - the last thing you'd want would be to make it out only to be stuck in the wilderness by yourself.

"Yeah, we'll wait in our last camp for as long as we can. If we run low on supplies, we'll have to go back, though." That's about as optimistic a reply as you can hope for. You turn around and face the empty corridor ahead. There's only one direction for you to go and that is forward.
