Investigate closer

You have to admit that you're a little disappointed that your first real mission as an adventurer seems to be ending so anticlimactically. As your three companions begin to make their way back out of the cave, you are determined to find something that will make your trip all this way worth it. You stop to take another sweep around the end of the cave, not entirely sure what you're looking for but sure you'll know when you've found it.

For the better part of a minute you scan the cave walls, the floor, and even the ceiling. All of the surfaces here are either completely smooth stone, compacted dirt, or piles of rubble. One pile in particular piques your attention, however. Atop the pile are several large rocks, leaning against each other in a way that leaves a small gap between them. You try looking into this space, but the dim light in the cave doesn't reach inside.

You take a peek back at the three men slowly heading out, though still in vision and definitely within earshot, before slipping your hand into the gap. Your mind races for a moment, going through all kinds of crazy possibilities of what could be hidden in this crevice. You imagine a myriad of horrific scenarios, from your fingertips brushing up against the web of a poisonous spider to cutting your arm open on hidden spikes. Thankfully, none of those nightmares come to fruition. Instead, just when you think your tiny arm won't reach any further, your fingertips brush up against what you initially assume to be a loose rock. As you reach for it again, however, your finger ends up pushing on it - a hidden switch!

You pull your arm out as the cave begins to rumble slightly. A large flat section of the wall next to you begins moving, revealing a small passageway behind, large enough for the four of you to travel down single file. You step to the side to peer down this new passageway and are pleasantly surprised to see the hallway has smooth, squared off walls and a completely flat floor and ceiling. This must be what the four of you were looking for!

You look back to the rest of your party, wondering to yourself whether you should call them over first or take a step in on your own first to check it out.
