Chapter 9 by jj0445 jj0445

What's next?

Take Kenzie & her friends back to the apartment

The Uber ride immediately turns into drunken chaos.

Lexi spends half the drive yelling lyrics out the cracked window while Maya repeatedly pulls her back inside before the driver throws everybody out. Kenzie stays pressed warmly against your side most of the ride laughing at literally everything while Ava and Tony somehow end up in their own quieter conversation near the opposite door.

At one point Lexi suddenly realizes something.

“Wait,” she says while looking between all of you. “Did you guys seriously leave your car at the club?”

“We planned to,” you say.

“We weren’t drinking and driving,” Chris adds.

The girls immediately laugh.

“That’s responsible,” Maya says approvingly.

“That’s BORING,” Lexi argues instantly.

Kenzie points dramatically at all of you from across the seat.

“You guys need to take more fun risks.”

“We literally have eight drunk people out right now,” you reply. “None of us were fitting in his car anyway.”

“That sounds like quitter talk,” Kenzie says proudly.

By the time everybody finally stumbles into the apartment building, the whole night already feels dangerously out of control.

The second the apartment door opens, the energy changes immediately.

Pulse had felt loud.

The apartment feels messy.

Personal.

Music starts blasting through somebody’s speaker within minutes while **** appears everywhere almost instantly. People spread naturally across couches, counters, stools, and the floor while conversations overlap loudly across rooms.

The whole place starts looking lived-in immediately.

Open cans on tables.

Shot glasses scattered across counters.

People shouting over music instead of moving closer.

Late-night energy settles over everything fast.

And somehow Kenzie becomes even more physical outside the club.

On the dance floor the touching had felt impulsive.

Now it feels natural.

She drags you into the living room by your wrist almost immediately before dropping backward beside you on the couch. A few minutes later she ends up standing directly between your knees while talking to Lexi across the room, completely unaware of what that position does to your brain.

Or maybe fully aware.

It’s honestly impossible to tell with her.

From where you’re sitting, the tiny denim shorts somehow look even shorter than before. The bottoms of her ass cheeks still show underneath the frayed denim whenever she shifts casually while talking.

And fuck.

Your eyes keep drifting there automatically.

The curve of her ass sits almost perfectly at eye level from where you’re sitting while she laughs with Lexi across the room. Without really thinking about it, one of your hands settles lightly against the outside of her thigh while she stands between your knees.

Kenzie doesn’t react.

If anything, she shifts slightly closer.

The movement makes your attention lock even harder onto the tiny shorts stretched tightly across her ass.

Your brain immediately starts wanting her to just sit on your lap already.

Instead she laughs loudly at something Lexi says and absentmindedly grabs your forearm for balance while leaning slightly backward against you.

The contact feels constant with her now.

Hands on your arm.

Your chest.

Your shoulders.

Pulling you around rooms whenever she gets another idea.

At one point she physically grabs your hand and drags you toward the kitchen because everybody decides shots sound smart.

“Absolutely not,” Maya says immediately after seeing the amount of **** on the counter.

“BORING,” Lexi yells dramatically.

“I’m surviving.”

“You’re surviving incorrectly,” Lexi replies.

Kenzie nearly folds into your shoulder laughing while everybody crowds around the kitchen island.

Meanwhile, Rob has completely stopped pretending he’s normal around Lexi.

The problem is Lexi still seems fundamentally unaware of what effect she’s having on him specifically because she flirts with literally everyone.

One second she’s grabbing your jaw dramatically while telling some story way too close to your face.

The next she’s pressed against Maya laughing.

Then somehow she ends up dropping directly onto your lap while laughing at something stupid you say.

And Jesus Christ.

The tiny gray shorts ride dangerously high immediately once she settles there. The soft curves of her ass press directly against your crotch through the thin fabric while she leans backward into your chest completely comfortable there.

“You’re comfy,” Lexi says casually while resting against you.

“I’m honored,” you reply.

Meanwhile Rob watches the entire thing like somebody actively being tortured psychologically.

Lexi shifts again while laughing at something happening across the room, and this time the movement feels slower.

More deliberate.

Her hips rock lightly against you while she keeps talking to everybody else like she barely even notices what she’s doing.

And fuck.

You immediately have to focus on not getting hard.

The feeling of her ass slowly grinding against your crotch through those tiny shorts does absolutely nothing to help.

She shifts again.

Slow.

Teasing.

Almost like she’s trying to turn you on for fun.

Not because she specifically wants you.

Because she genuinely seems flirtatious with everybody when she’s drunk enough.

Still—

your entire body reacts anyway.

You **** yourself to stay relaxed while trying very hard not to look too obviously affected by it.

Especially because Kenzie’s still nearby.

Then Kenzie walks over.

She takes one look at Lexi sitting on your lap before narrowing her eyes dramatically.

“No,” Kenzie says while laughing.

“What?” Lexi asks innocently.

“You’re stealing my spot.”

Before Lexi can even argue, Kenzie grabs her wrist laughing and physically pulls her upright off you.

The second Lexi moves, Kenzie immediately drops directly down onto your lap the exact same way Lexi had been sitting.

And somehow that feels infinitely worse.

Kenzie settles fully against you with her back pressed to your chest, her ass directly against your crotch while the tiny denim shorts ride even higher from the position.

Your hands immediately go to her hips automatically.

And fuck.

The feeling of her sitting there nearly short-circuits your brain instantly.

Warm thighs.

Soft curves pressing directly against you.

The tiny shorts barely covering anything while her body settles naturally into yours like she belongs there already.

Your pulse spikes hard enough that your body reacts almost immediately.

Kenzie definitely notices too.

You feel it in the way she pauses slightly before smiling afterward.

Small.

Smug.

Like she knows exactly what effect she has on you now.

Instead of moving away, she settles more comfortably against you.

Not acknowledging it verbally.

Not teasing you about it.

Just enjoying the fact she can feel how badly you want her.

“You’re aggressive,” you tell her.

“She started it,” Kenzie replies proudly.

Lexi just laughs and wanders off toward the kitchen where Rob immediately follows her like a loyal golden retriever.

And honestly?

The pairing becomes obvious fast after that.

Not because Lexi suddenly locks onto him specifically.

Because she gradually keeps ending up near him anyway.

Touching his chest while laughing.

Pulling him into drinking games.

Grabbing his hand to drag him into stupid conversations.

By the second hour everybody can already tell exactly where that’s heading.

Meanwhile the apartment itself keeps descending further into drunken disaster energy.

Music gets louder.

People start shouting over each other.

Shots become terrible ideas nobody rejects anymore.

At one point Lexi suddenly points between Chris and Rob while laughing hysterically.

“You guys should just have a threesome with me,” she says dramatically.

Rob immediately points toward Chris.

“I’m fully down,” he says enthusiastically.

Chris freezes instantly.

Not offended.

Not even necessarily against it.

His brain just completely shuts off.

Lexi waits maybe two seconds for a response before laughing and immediately moving onto something else entirely.

“Okay nevermind,” she says while grabbing another drink. “Too slow.”

“You just watched his nervous system fail live,” you tell Rob.

“He died instantly,” Kenzie says while laughing into your shoulder.

Meanwhile Maya slowly becomes the only emotionally stable person in the apartment.

Not boring.

Just normal.

At one point she quietly helps clean spilled **** while everybody else argues about music. Later she sits beside Chris on the couch while watching Lexi nearly fall over trying to dance barefoot on hardwood.

“She’s gonna crack her skull open,” Maya says honestly.

“She’s immortal,” Rob replies immediately.

Maya laughs softly at that before glancing back toward Chris.

And honestly?

For a second it almost feels like maybe they could’ve worked.

Not dramatic chemistry.

Just comfortable.

Easy.

But the longer the night goes on, the more obvious it becomes Maya simply doesn’t see him that way.

She’s still nice to him.

Still talks to him.

Still laughs at his jokes.

But there’s no tension there.

No pull.

Eventually even Chris starts realizing it too.

At one point later in the night, he quietly asks her if she wants another drink while they stand near the kitchen.

Maya smiles apologetically before shaking her head.

“No thanks,” she says gently. “I’m honestly kinda exhausted.”

Then she glances toward the living room where Lexi is currently screaming lyrics while Kenzie tries to dance on the couch cushions.

“This night is insane,” Maya says honestly.

“That’s fair,” Chris says quietly.

And for the first time all night, he looks a little deflated afterward.

Not destroyed.

Just aware now.

Meanwhile across the apartment, the energy between Ava and Tony keeps getting smoother.

More flirtatious.

Not obvious enough that the girls think anything’s wrong.

But definitely more physical now.

Ava laughs quietly at things he says while touching his arm casually during conversations. At one point she leans fully against his shoulder during a drinking game while both of them pretend it means nothing.

And honestly?

None of you guys realize how far it’s gotten until suddenly—

“Wait,” Chris says slowly while looking around the apartment. “Where’s curly girl?”

Everybody pauses.

Kenzie looks toward the hallway first.

Then immediately starts laughing.

“Oh my GOD.”

Lexi’s eyes widen instantly.

“No WAY.”

Maya covers her face.

“They’re absolutely hooking up,” Kenzie says while dying laughing.

“Ava you sneaky bitch,” Lexi yells dramatically toward the hallway.

The girls immediately lose their minds laughing over it.

Meanwhile all three of you guys share the exact same horrified look.

Because unlike the girls—

you all know Tony has a girlfriend.

“We are not getting involved,” you say immediately.

“Absolutely not,” Chris agrees.

Still, the energy shifts slightly afterward.

Messier now.

More reckless.

Meanwhile Kenzie realizes what the situation is and finds the entire situation hilarious.

“She stole him SO smoothly,” Kenzie says while laughing into your shoulder.

“You’re enjoying this too much.”

“It’s incredible.”

Later, sometime after another round of drinks, Kenzie drags you into the kitchen alone because everybody else is distracted arguing over music.

“You definitely have more **** somewhere,” she says while opening cabinets dramatically.

“You sound very confident about that.”

“You seem emotionally prepared for bad decisions.”

“That might be the nicest thing anybody’s ever said to me.”

Kenzie laughs softly while leaning against the counter beside you.

And honestly?

For the first time all night, things feel quieter between you.

Not awkward.

Just calmer.

She reaches for another bottle before looking toward you with flushed cheeks and messy blonde hair hanging around her face.

“You know,” she says casually, “I thought you were gonna suck.”

“That’s incredibly rude.”

“No,” Kenzie says laughing. “Like socially.”

“Better.”

“You looked awkward.”

“And?”

“And you’re actually really fun.”

The way she says it catches you slightly off guard because it sounds genuine.

Not teasing.

Not flirtatious.

Just honest.

And weirdly enough, that hits harder than most of the physical stuff tonight.

Because standing here with her now—

messy blonde hair,

tiny shorts,

black tube top hugging tightly around her breasts,

soft cleavage still showing underneath warm kitchen light—

she suddenly feels way more attractive than she did earlier somehow.

Not less physical.

Way more.

But now there’s something underneath it too.

You can actually picture yourself liking her.

Not just wanting her.

And honestly?

That realization hits harder than expected.

“You’re not what I expected either,” you tell her.

Kenzie narrows her eyes playfully.

“That better be a compliment.”

“It is.”

She smiles afterward.

Smaller this time.

Then immediately ruins the moment by stealing a shot glass off the counter and dragging you back into the chaos again.

Eventually the apartment starts slowing down slightly.

Not calmer.

Just drunker.

People sink deeper into couches.

Music becomes background noise instead of center-stage chaos.

Lexi sprawls dramatically across half the couch while Rob sits beside her looking fully emotionally attached already.

Maya drinks water quietly in the kitchen like somebody recovering from a natural disaster.

And Kenzie—

yeah.

Kenzie starts getting restless.

You notice it almost immediately.

She keeps pacing.

Changing songs every thirty seconds.

Looking around like the apartment suddenly feels too small for her energy.

Finally she drops beside you on the couch dramatically.

“This place is dying,” she says.

“It’s been like three hours,” you reply.

“And now I’m bored,” Kenzie says.

“We should go somewhere else,” she adds immediately afterward.

Lexi sits upright instantly.

“Yes.”

“Absolutely not,” Maya says immediately.

Kenzie ignores her completely.

“We need louder music. More people. Something chaotic.”

“You are describing a crisis,” Maya replies.

“A fun crisis,” Kenzie argues.

At that point even Chris looks exhausted.

He leans against the kitchen counter before shaking his head slightly.

“Nah,” he says honestly. “I’m tapping out.”

Maya immediately nods.

“Same.”

Kenzie stares dramatically.

“You guys are abandoning us?”

“I’m surviving,” Maya replies.

Then Maya grabs her phone and looks toward the door.

“I’m honestly just gonna head back to our apartment,” she says. “I’m done with whatever this night became.”

Chris laughs tiredly.

“Yeah. I think I’m done too.”

And honestly?

The energy between them suddenly makes perfect sense.

Not romantic.

Not flirtatious.

Just two relatively normal people emotionally surviving the most chaotic night imaginable together.

Maya glances toward him afterward.

“You staying here?”

“Yeah,” Chris says honestly. “If I continue this night I’ll legally become a different person.”

“That already happened to him,” Rob says while pointing toward you.

“Fair.”

Kenzie groans dramatically before grabbing your hand again.

“Okay fine,” she says. “Then we’re leaving.”

And just like that, the group suddenly becomes smaller.

You.

Kenzie.

Rob.

Lexi.

A much more dangerous combination.

Especially because the second Kenzie stands up, she pulls you with her automatically like she already assumes you’re following.

And honestly?

At this point you are.
