Not wasting any time, Azure proceeded to explain the transformation vote while also recapping it for latecomers in the audience.

"As before, all contestants will be given four options. Three will be themed around the girl's personality, role, or prior transformation. To introduce variety, the fourth option will be a wildcard theme."

She lifted four fingers. "Starting this round, each choice will be one of four intensity levels: Boon, Minor, Major, and Nasty. I'll note that Major and Minor don't necessarily refer to the degree of the change but rather to how much it disrupts your life. For instance, a Major compulsion could be considered Minor if its trigger is avoidable enough."

Mrs. Wolf threw up her hands. "I still don't understand a word you're saying!"

"Your ranking in the prior challenge determines the intensity of your four options. Here is how it distributes this round." The rankings for each contest in the Quiet Game were displayed on the monitor.

"In any case, it's for the audience to decide," Azure sighed. "However, we're not done with you, Tomoko. Since you got first place in the challenge, you're allowed to trade the 15 VP you won to instead replace a prior transformation."

"It looks like we hit a nerve," Azure chortled. "I assume you want to replace the compulsion, then. I should remind you that the alternative options could be of any intensity."

Azure nodded. "Very well. The Co-Parent transformation shall be removed. It was in the 'Single Mother' category, so Tomoko will have an extra vote round with that theme."

"Next, we will go to Ms. Booker. Coming in second, two of your options will be Boons. But before I get your hopes up, I should warn you that neither of them is to make your daddy love you."

"Ugh..." Lauren groaned softly, feeling a dull ache in her head. Her eyes slowly fluttered open, adjusting to the stage lights as she stirred in her seat, trying to shake off the drowsiness.

Azure cheered, overjoyed to have one of her favorite victims back. "Oh, Lauren, perfect timing. We were just getting to your favorite ex-contestant. You know, the one who you utterly doomed? Since she got eliminated, we'll be skipping her for Ji-Woo."

Ji-Woo sat proudly in her seat. "Keep lying, Azure! I know who I am, no matter the image you try to create of me!"

Ji-Woo Summers

"But... I... you..." Ji-Woo flailed around aimlessly. "You're breaking your own rule anyway. How is the second option 'minor?'"

"You hoped the sedative didn't cause memory loss," Alison explained. "It doesn't. Though it's not as if you were ever opposed to a Peterson with amnesia."

Azure shot her a murderous look. The comment went totally over the heads of Elena, Tomoko, and Mrs. Wolf. Meanwhile, Levi, Lauren, Ji-Woo, and Olivia assumed she was referring to Kaitlyn. Only Sophia thought the remark was odd.

"Here are the choices!" Azure quickly exclaimed, hoping that the transition would prevent the others from thinking of Alison's words.

Lauren Peterson

Sophia Maoulin

Azure exchanged a sly wink with the girl before shifting her gaze to Levi. Addressing the master, she took on a tone one would give when speaking to royalty. "And now, it's time to bestow upon our master yet another well-deserved reward for all his relentless dedication and effort. We've meticulously curated four exceptional options for our audience to consider."

Levi had totally forgotten that he would get a boon. However, he didn't want it, especially after his last one had been used to cruelly enhance his violation of the others.

Levi Summers

Azure shook her head. "Wrong. You volunteered when inflicted your opinion on Levi Summer's business."

"I said I forgave her," Levi voiced.

Something snapped in Azure. She took a deep breath and uttered, barely audible, "Pause the cameras."

The world fell into an eerie silence as all sound ceased, and even the gentle breeze of the outdoor stage came to a halt. Colors drained away, leaving everything in a hauntingly muted monochrome, save for Levi, Azure, and Alison. Everyone but those three people were frozen.

Levi felt the sudden shift in the host's attitude as she turned angrily toward him, completely shedding her stage persona.

"Will you shut the fuck up with this virtue-signaling bullshit!"

Levi took an uneasy step back. "What?"

"Stop trying to impress everyone by saying you forgive everyone. You haven't. I have an algorithm that tells me when you do, and Elena is the only person you've exonerated. And you only did that because you were so **** for a friend that you'd convince yourself of anything!"

"You... you don't know me!" Levi asserted.

Azure stomped her foot on the ground, shaking the frozen stage like an earthquake. "I know you better than you know yourself! I watched your ENTIRE LIFE for this show! I know how desperately you try to take the blame for everything because it makes you feel special."

Azure ran her fingers through her hair. "Except you don't need to do that anymore. Because you ARE special now! The most important person in the world to the others. Do you know how many people would KILL to have what I'm giving you?!"

"Careful mistress," Alison warned. "This isn't how a master should be spoken to."

For once, Azure actually listened to Alison. "You're right. I apologize. I shouldn't yell at you, master."

She placed her hand over her heart. "It's heartbreaking to see you act as though everyone is blameless. Believe me, I've witnessed your life in different scenarios. I've seen how they hindered your happiness. Even Olivia damaged you by shaping John Booker into the man he became."

Levi wanted to object, but he could read the room enough to know that was a bad idea.

Levi's body moved back to its original position as time resumed. Color returned to the world as the others unfroze. Still, they didn't notice anything change due to the consistency in their positions.

Azure resumed explaining Mrs. Wolf's particular situation. "First, let's talk VP. To compensate for having fewer days to play, replacements receive 3 VPs for each prior day they missed."

She continued, "As for BP, the one who was eliminated passes their BP to their replacement, so a bit of their legacy can persist. Our prior girls' final card netted her a big nest egg, so Nora will be getting a 38 BP inheritance—sort of like the life insurance payout she got when her husband died."

"HOW DARE YOU!" Nora screamed. Above her, the scoreboard revealed itself, showing her addition to it. Tomoko's ranking had also been adjusted for the points she traded in.

"That brings us to transformations," Azure explained. "Nora will receive two transformations due to missing the first transformation round. Since she didn't participate in the challenge, we will assign the intensity randomly, with a mix of Minor and Major changes, similar to how we started with the rest of you."

On the screen, eight options were presented in two columns of smaller font.

Nora shouted in disgusted offense. It didn't matter that she barely understood or believed in any of this. If this was a prank, it had far surpassed the boundaries of good taste.

"This has gone too far! I'm leaving!" Nora marched towards the stairs. However, she barely made it four steps before spinning on her feet and strutting back with a swing in her hip, stopping right in front of Azure.

Azure leaned in, close enough to kiss her. "Sorry dear, that's not how this works."

"How... how are you doing this?!"

Azure patted her shoulder sympathetically. "Oh honey, you have so much to learn." She then pinched the teacher's cheek condescendingly. "Still, if you really don't want to play, I could be tempted to give you the choice of self-elimination."

Mrs. Wolf tried to move Azure's hand away, but her body wasn't responding. "If it means leaving this... gameshow or whatever it is, then..."

Nora stopped as she saw Levi and the women around her shake their heads in horror, silently begging her not to.

Azure smirked, interpreting her silence as a sign of reconsideration. Though it hardly mattered, she had no intention of letting her go so quickly anyway.

Mrs. Wolf tried to be diplomatic but spoke through gritted teeth. "You owe me an explanation."

"And, as I said, you'll get one when we're done here." She turned to the camera.

"Which brings us to you fine folks. Once again, we need your vote. Remember, I have only one veto this time because I believe in your judgment. Let's see what fun surprises you all have in store."
