Suspiciously Well

“So I was thinking about asking him, it’s just I’m…. What?” Katie suddenly said, as she realized she was holding the boobs of Astrid Addams when just a moment ago she had been speaking to Danielle Morris.

“Hi,” Mark said as nonchalantly as possible, though still in an awkward sort of way.

“Mark?” Katie asked, the confusion evident on her face. “What’s going on? Why is Astrid Naked and why am I holding her breasts? Why is she not moving, or anyone else for that mater?” Mark noted Katie was still holding Astrid’s boobs while she asked these questions, and was even giving them a few squeezes.

“So you probably won’t believe me…”

“Try me,” Katie said.

“I can freeze time.”

Katie stared at her best friend with her dark brown eyes. He always thought she looked cute when she did that.

“What?” She asked again.

“I can freeze time,” Mark repeated.

An annoyed expression came onto Katie’s face. “And you didn’t tell me before now?” She demanded.

“Hey, I didn’t find out until Yesterday,” Mark said, raising his hands defensively. “Plus this is the type of thing you say in person.”

“Hmmmph,” Katie said, crossing her arms, finally removing her hands from Astrid's boobs. “I suppose that’s a little better. That still doesn’t explain why all these girl’s are naked.”

“Hey, funny thing,” Make said, rubbing the back of his neck.

“What’s that,” Katie asked raising an eyebrow.

“Well in addition to being able to freeze time, I also found out I can freeze and unfreeze objects and individuals out of time as well.”

“How did you figure that out?”

“I may have accidentally frozen my neighbor Helen Wang from the rest of time, and took her body home, and now have her hidden in my room.”

“Jesus Mark,” Katie said. “Let me guess, you were perving on her and she say you?”

“Katie!” Mark exclaimed.

“Well were you?” Katie asked, a bit forcibly.

“I mean, yeah. I was, but still...”

“Let me guess, you were being an idiot when she saw you?”

“I mean…yeah I guess I was. This is just….not something I want a lot of people to know about. I only want certain people to know…like you.”

“You charmer you,” Katie said playfully, giving Make a lighthearted punch to the shoulder. “That doesn’t explain why all these girl’s are naked though.”

“Well you see, freezing Helen… gave me an idea. To freeze someone else, so she won’t get lonely, and to…. uh… start a collection of frozen women?”

Katie simply stared at her friend. “Jesus Mark.”

“I know, I know I’m a terrible person for thinking that.”

“No,” Katie said much more forcefully than before.

“What?”

“What happened with Helen…. was necessary. It was likely even meant to happen, and I have a feeling that this was always her ultimate destiny. I would be lying if I didn’t say the idea of keeping frozen women around as love dolls didn’t excite me.”

“Really?” Mark asked, genuinely surprised at what Katie was saying.

“Really,” Katie repeated. But just randomly freezing and taking someone for no rhyme and reason other than them being there is not a good idea.”

“Oh,” Mark said, somewhat dejected.

“I’m not saying you won’t end of up freezing some of these women eventually, right now is just not a good time. Plus waiting, gives you a much better set of choices, especially if you want to start a collection like you said. You need a reason for someone to disappear and so that no one looks for them afterwards. You’re already pushing the line with Helen, people will look for her. Guess where they will look first?”

Mark sighs. “O.K, I get it. I won’t freeze anyone new today.”

“Oh I didn’t say that. I’m surprised you aren’t wondering why I know so much about making people disappear.”

Mark blinked a few times. “And why is that?”

“Well it all circles back to there being a reason for everything. I recently discovered something. Someone is looking to ruin my sister Nadia’s life, and I’ve been wanting to put a stop to them.”

“I thought you didn’t like Nadia and got into arguments all the time?”

Katie gave Mark an annoyed look. “She’s still my sister. Plus that doesn’t really mater when a home-wrecker is screwing with her. Only I can do that!”

“So you want me to… freeze this person?”

“Exactly! Like I said, you need a good excuse, this is a good excuse!”

“And what about the whole, make it easy to disappear?”

“Everything happens for a reason, and something was going to happen to her, whether you told me about your abilities or not! I’m certain if you freeze her, a good excuse will come to fruition.”

Mark sighed. “O.K who is this lucky….lady?”

“Correct, her name is Riley Kaplan. Like Nadia, she used to be friends with Ashley and has been cheating with Nadia’s boyfriend Mitch.”

“When do we do this?”

“No time like the present, even if it’s frozen.”
