Chapter 5 by Zeebop Zeebop

Who is the alternate Sue Storm?

Susan von Doom

"I only have access to basic information," Reed Richards said as he stretched out an arm, so that a massive screen lowered from the ceiling to display additional images. "But she appears to be from an alternate universe where you married Victor von Doom."

Sue Storm blinked and saw snapshots from the life of her other self. A newspaper front page showing her in a bridal gown next to Doctor Doom. In her own set of semi-transparent armor, without a face mask. A paparazzi shot of a topless alternate self sunbathing atop Doomstadt.

"Why would I marry Doom? What happened to you!?" Sue asked. "And why is she here?"

"You can ask her when you find her," Reed said, and held up a handheld device that looked suspiciously like a Dragonball Tracker from one of Franklin's Japanese cartoons. "I've designed a tracking device locked onto her particular dimensional frequency. You should be able to use it to find her."

He paused. Sue Storm knew her husband. Knew there was something he wasn't telling her.

"Reed. Darling. Love of my life," she said, in the tone of voice that said if she had to repeat herself she was going to use his full name, including the middle one he hated. "What aren't you telling me?"

Reed let out a breath.

"The two of you are almost identical. The dimensional variance is very small. There have been cases where two variants of the same individual in the same dimension have caused...issues. Like when Cable and X-Man first appeared in the same time. You might experience headaches. Strange dreams. Déjà vu. And...your powers might become unstable," he said. Then he added: "She'll experience the same effects. Eventually you'll diverge enough to be able to coexist, but the psychic feedback will be unpleasant, especially the closer you get."

The moment Reed set it, Sue realized she felt a nagging ache behind her eyes. One of those little annoying headaches that moms regularly ignored to focus on keeping the family fed, to get what needed to be done complete. Now, however, it felt...insistent.

Sue took the tracker. She clicked the button. On the green screen, a glowing dot appeared, an arrow, a set of coordinates.

"Understood. I'm taking the Fantasticar," Sue said.

"Do you want some backup?" Reed asked.

Does Sue Storm want backup on her quest?
