Supervision

"Run that by me one more time." Xander looked at Buffy with shocked surprise clear on his face.

"I knocked out Giles." Buffy answered and then gestured to where the normally proper and stuffy Watcher was sprawled on the floor wearing just jeans and a white t shirt. "He was being all... Not Giles."

"Right. Right." Xander opened a new piece of chocolate and began eating the bar of candy, gesturing with his other hand. "And that?"

Buffy followed his pointing hand to the powder room that was barricaded shut from the outside.

"My own daughter cock blocking me! Buffy, good daughters don't stop their very lonely mother's from getting some well deserved dick!" Joyce shouted from inside the bathroom.

"She also wasnt acting like herself." Buffy shuddered at the memory. "I didnt need to see that. Just... just ignore whatever you hear coming from over there."

Xander canted his head as he heard Joyce continue to extol the virtues of getting some regularly and smirked, "Uh huh. Will do. Sooo... basically you found the two of them getting their freak on and you freaked out?"

"I did not freak out. I reacted completely appropriately." Buffy shook her head.

"Sure, sure." Xander ate more chocolate. "So why am I here?"

Buffy groaned and gestured to the window behind them, "C'mon, Xan, look outside. Its getting weird out there. Adults are being weird. Somebody needs to do something about that. It cant be normal. It has to be some kind of magic something or other."

Xander inclined his head, "Okay, I'll buy that for a dollar. How are you going to find out what's what with Giles down for the count."

Buffy looked at Giles lying on the floor, "Willow?"

"Doesn't have the Giles know how. I mean, shes good but not that good. Yet. If you want to get to the bottom of this... whatever, you are going to need the G Man." Xander finished the bar of chocolate.

Buffy whined and reaching down she grabbed hold of Giles and with a yank had the dead weight of the **** man up on her shoulders in a firearm carry. "I figured. Damn it."

"Why isnt Wills here?" Xander looked around.

"I told her to go to the library and start looking for answers." Buffy answered as she walked to her mom's purse and freeing up a hand from holding Giles started rooting around the purse for car keys.

"So why make me come here?" Xander asked opening another bar of chocolate and taking a big bite.

"Mom's acting weird. I cant bring her with me. What if it's demon magic or whatever. I cant have her danger adjacent. I need her to stay here where its safe buuuut with Mom acting all weird..."

"So, babysitting duty for your mom." Xander looked at the barricaded bathroom. "You want me to make sure nothing bad happens to her."

"Just for tonight."

"You hope. " Xander grimly retorted. "It could take awhile. No Giles to help."

"Oh God, dont even joke about that." Buffy shivered. She did not want to long term deal with her mom if her mom was going to act like... that.

"Just saying." Xander ate more chocolate.

Buffy pulled out the keys and held them up in truimph. She then looked at Xander, "How many of those thing have you eaten today?"

Xander eyed the chocolate bar, "Five? Six?"

"The point is to sell them to others, Xander, not eat them yourself. Do you even have the money to pay for those things? They are way too expensive to just pig out on 'em." Buffy rolled her eyes. "I ate one and immediately regretted it. Totally not worth the money. The chocolate sucks."

Xander shrugged. "Whats the worst that could happen?"
