What else but one of the best multiplayer games to ever come out on the Nintendo Switch? Explaining the concept of a ‘fighting game’ to a person who hadn’t played or even really heard of video games at all prior was rather tedious, but Sakura was a smart girl. She picked up the basic concept. You suppose it helped that the Elemental Nations was so wildly inconsistent about technology. You know Orochimaru’s labs were advanced even by real world standards. Goodness, imagine if you picked a character from a more realistic period in time? You’d have to explain practically everything in your house to them!

As a simple introduction, you were just going to do a one-on-one match.

“Okay, so I use this remote control to select one of the characters on the screen? And then after we both pick one, then we fight as those characters?” she asked, holding the Joycon somewhat awkwardly.

You nodded, “Yes. Those are the basics. There are a bunch of other factors like items which can have a lot of varied abilities that can affect the outcome of a match, but I’ve disabeled them for now since you’ve never played before.”

“Alright, so does it matter which one I pick?” the pinkette asks.

You shake your head,”Not really. They all play differently but you can when with any character if you’re skilled enough at the game.”

You weren’t going to bring up the tier-lists. That’d just confuse her ever more. Sakura takes a moment to look through each character, predictably d’awwing at the more cutesy ones like Pikachu and Kirby, before eventually settling on Isabelle from Animal Crossing. You go with Mario.

Ultimately, it was actually pretty fun to play with her. She was a fast learner, and once she got the basic controls down and got a feel for Isabelle’s moves, she immediately started beating you if you didn’t take her seriously enough. Must be those ninja reflexes and years of strategic thinking being put to good use. About an hour into the session, you were even able to put some of the items back on just to see how she dealt with the randomness. Judging by her scowl when you hit her with an X-Bomb, she wasn’t a fan of it~
