Sunday morning.

You wake up startled. Your first reaction is to sit up on the bed, an action you regret as soon as you remember Shelly is sleeping next to you.

“John? What’s wrong?” She asks you hastily. You can tell she just woke up, more than likely because of your sudden movements. She’s wearing her pajamas, as are you.

“Sorry,” You say, looking down at the bedsheets. “I didn’t mean to wake you.” You’re panting heavily. You feel anxious and restless. It’s been a while since you can clearly remember one of your dreams. The worst part is that this one HAD to be a nightmare.

“Don’t worry about that.” Shelly says. “Are you okay? You’re sweating.” Shelly looks genuinely worried, which, as nice as it is to see your sister worried about you, is nothing short of weird when you consider your past with her.

“I’m fine,” You assure her, still not meeting her gaze. “I just… had a nightmare, is all.” You try your best to steady your breath. “Sorry, I don’t want to talk about it.”

“Okay,” Shelly accepts it. “Still, let your big sister cheer you up.”

She cups your cheeks and turns your head so you’re looking at her. She gently pecks your lips once, then twice. She places small kisses on your lips, your cheeks and your forehead. Then, she places a long kiss on your lips as she pushes you down on the bed. You hold her tightly as you start making out. You don’t know how long you’re at it, but it worked to relax you. You don’t know if it’s the familial touch, the reassurance of another person next to you or just the fact that your mind is occupied with other thoughts right now, but you’re starting to feel a lot better.

“You know,” Shelly begins to speak in between kisses. “I meant to say this yesterday, but you’re a surprisingly good kisser.”

“Really?” You ask. Like with everything up to this point, you’d never kissed a girl before Shelly, so you don’t know why you’re good at it.

“Yeah,” She assures you, moaning as you slip your tongue inside her mouth again. “I love making out with you. It’s fun and relaxing.” She deepens the kiss even further, as if for emphasis.

You’re glad Shelly is here. Not just because of how amazing this situation is, but because she did as she said and cheered you up. If she wasn’t, this would’ve been a very lousy start to a Sunday. Weird as it sounds, Shelly feels more like a sister now than ever.
