Summer’s sunset

It was never planned for the couple to stop having their fun, both Erik and Vi were more than keen to continue. But, it just never worked out in their favour. Max abruptly left for the summer, apparently he went to Ibiza, according to the shirtless pictures he insisted on sending to Vi. But the couple found that sexting or doing this long distance was just not as fun. Vi more often than not, (save for some light flirting while in her skimpy bikinis) chose to hangout and spend time with Erik. The couple opting for solo dates to the ice cream parlour or joining Sai and Ari at Sai’s summer beach house. It was a shock to the group of four when they were on their way back from the impromptu trip that they had just been…. Normal. Erik and Sai spending time drinking and playing football on the nearby beach and on the large TV screen. Vi and Ari lounging both in and out of the pool, mixing it up with crocheting, reading, sketching or just napping.

The closest the four got to being wild was when they all happened to have sex with their respective partners on the same night. The couples had left their doors open just a smidge and could hear each other as they went at it.

“Baby. Fuck me harder, let’s win. Let’s be louder.” Vi had whispered into Erik’s ear as he pressed his weight on top of her. A challenge that he had happily accepted.

Both couples, depsite that, remained focused on their own partners, the playfullness getting a quick shout out by Ari the following morning.

“Fake moans don’t count by the way.”

The group laughed it off as if it were the most normal conversation ever, Sai and Erik returning to cooking the eggs over the stove while Vi and Ari chatted about the newest books they had read. Bouncing between trashy romantasy to introspective commentaries on race and class.

Towards the tail end of the summer, Vi found herslef being emailed by a ‘friend of her Dad’ who runs a national real estate company. Apparently, Vi’s father stong armed him into offering Vi a job. Despite cutting off her allowance, he clearly felt some tension at his darling daughter getting a ‘poor’s job. So now Vi has employment as a ‘real estate assistant’. Vi has decided to take it in her stride, if only to get a bit of brevity from her overbearing father. Erik had tried to lighten her mood just a tad.

“You women have it so easy.”

“Me, when I’m an incel.” Vi had teased back.

Which all leads to now. Summer is over, well, not technically, but summer break is over.

“Summer felt so short, didn’t it?” Vi asks, lounging on Erik’s couch, legs resting on the back rest, her head hanging off the seat.

“We just did. So. Much.” Erik replies, glancing across the room at Vi. His shirtless back pressed against the cool dorm room wall.

“We always do a lot of stuff, this felt quick anyway.”

Erik shakes his head, “We? This is out first summer together.”

“Well. Me and Ari usually always do this much stuff.”

“I think last summer I just stayed in my dorm playing video games.”

“Ugh! To think we could’ve met earlier if you got out of your room more often!” Vi giggles.

“No shot mate.” Erik laughs. “I barely approached you in class, you think I would’ve when you’re wearing a bikini or a summer dress or some shit.”

“I would’ve approached you, my cutie.” Vi pouts, turning over on the couch and looking at her man with puppy dog eyes.

Erik shifts against the wall, a smug smile spreading on his face, “Heh. Thanks.”

Vi laughs and she gets off the couch, joining Erik on the wall she drops down and bends her knees, leaning her shoulder against Erik’s she sighs contentedly.

“Love you.”

“Love you too, babe.” Erik says, leaning his head on top of hers. “But…” She looks up at him, pulling away slghtly, “I love you from a bit further away at the moment.”

Vi laughs and grabs his hand, putting an overly wet kiss on the back of his hand before leaning back on him, “Sorry, no deal.”

“Oh no. What a nightmare.” He pulls her closer, the sun peeking past the black out blinds Erik and Sai installed in his dorm room.

“How are you feeling about uni? Ready to go back?”

Erik sighs and lets his head fall back against the wall, “I think I am. Just feels endless.”

“Yeah… Two more years…”

“One for you.” Erik says, “And you already basically have a career set up.”

“I meaaaaaaaan.” She says in response.

“It’s fine. I’m very proud of you.”

She laughs softly, “Thanks baby, Hopefully it all rolls on naturally.”

“I should start looking…”

“That would be good! Get an early start, show ambition and stuff? And then we won’t have as many issues moving out after you graduate.”

“Oh true. I kinda forgot that once the grad ceremony happens, I have to move out.” Erik looks at Vi, “Wait, do you have a plan yet?”

She nods, “Yeah. I mean.” She pasues, “I have some ideas.” She holds up a finger, “First option is that you get a decent paying job, enough to help pay for rent, and I also put some money in from either modelling or something else.” She holds up a second finger, “Or Ari and I move out together to some shitty apartment, Sai also has two years left so we reckon we deal with it for a year and then move out with our mans.” She holds up a third finger, “Or, Ari thinks she could convince Sai to let us rent a spare room at his parents summer house.”

Erik raises an eyebrow, “Seems ambitious.” He thinks for a moment, “Though, his parents don’t really go there, do they? They’re usually in Europe.”

She nods, “Yep! So that would be cool and definitely better than an apartment, and depending on the price range, all four of us could move in!”

“You’ve thought about it alot more than I have.” Erik laughs, a hint of shame lacing his voice.

“To be fair, I’m finishing up first.”

“Anyway. Nothing to worry about for now.” She shrugs, “Want to get some dinner? Pizza? Last Summer hurrah?”

The couples eyes meet and their minds connect telepahtically, Erik already ordering the food and Vi already jumping on the couch, choosing a movie to accompany their food.
