Sue Storm Suddenly Finds She Cannot Remember

Even as Sue Storm prepared to answer Janet Van Dyne, she realized a sudden gap in her memory. A moment ago, she had a clear image of when and where those photos had been taken. Now, as she stared at the image of her younger self in those glamour shots, those memories were gone. Her brow furrowed as she tried to tease the memory out, but it was like when she'd had her wisdom teeth out, and her tongue probed the empty socket where the tooth had been.

SSR: I...don't know.

JVD: LOL. How do you not know?

SSR: I mean I recognize the photos. I know they're me. I knew when they were taken, a moment ago. Except now I...can't. It's strange.

JVD: Do you think someone is playing with your memory?

SSR: I don't know. It's weird. Liks something I should remember. That I did remember, a moment ago. Except now it's gone.

JVD: Sue, that sounds serious. We need to bring someone in on this. Maybe a telepath? Emma Frost owes me a favor.

Sue Storm blinked. Emma Frost was one of the most powerful mutant telepaths on the planet, with a mind like a scalpel. One of those who had gone back and forth from villain to hero so many times only she knew which side she was on...and she had a reputation as a queen bitch par excellence. Rich, powerful, beautiful, and utterly dominant.

SSR: Emma Frost owes you a favor.

JVD: It involved some cosmetic surgery, when she was younger, and a round-trip ticket to Colombia. But yes, she owes me a favor. Want me to call her?

The Invisible Woman chewed on the idea. She didn't like the idea of inviting a telepath to poke around her head. On the other hand, as she stared at the naked photos of her younger self, Sue had a sudden, overpowering sense of nostalgia. As if there was something she wanted, needed to remember.

Well, it's not like Janet doesn't already know about the photos, Sue reasoned. Hopefully, Emma Frost can be relied upon for her discretion.

SSR: Please do. Whenever it's convenient. This whole business troubles me, and I'd like to get to the bottom of these missing memories and nude photos before it gets out of hand.

JVD: If it hasn't already. I'll call her now, she'll call you. Ciao.

"Ciao," Sue said aloud, as she sat on the bed. Invisible fingers rubbed her temples. A sense of unease grew within her. Maybe it was just paranoia, or instincts picked up from years of dealing with manipulators, mind controllers and the like, but something about this set-up felt so scripted. As if someone had set those photos for Janet to find, and knew she would tell Sue. Yet how would anyone know Janet would hook Sue up with Emma Frost of all people? No, that was too unpredictable.

There was nothing to do but wait for Emma Frost to contact her. In the meantime, the heroine finished dressing and went to make breakfast for her family.
