What do the young heroes want?
Sue Storm Has To Play Strip Poker With The Young Heroes
It was almost frightening how efficient a handful of young, aggressively horny male superheroes could be, with a clear goal and a little bit of incentive. Patriot worked the ground game, identifying dealers. Amadeus Cho traced the network, mapping burner cell phones and GPS tracking. Speed and the young Spider-Man planted trackers, tailed cars. The Invisible Woman was there with them, a silent and unseen presence, guiding and assisting them.
Until they identified everything. The street dealers, the middlemen, and the source: a rogue AIM cell using a cache of mutant DNA harvested from the corpses of mutants that had died in NYPD custody. A nasty combination of police corruption and mad science. When the time came to roll up the network, Sue Storm called in everyone—the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and S.H.I.E.L.D. In a single night, the entire Mutant Growth Hormone was swept up.
She was there with the young heroes as Amadeus Cho's hulking green form broke through the wall of the rogue AIM cell. Speed swept through the facility, releasing the homeless people who had been used as unwilling test subjects. Miles Morales, the Spider-Man, didn't crack jokes—but neither did he let anyone escape; every exit to the building was a sticky web. The Patriot took command, cracked skulls, directed the operation with natural leadership...and Sue Storm kept them safe. Blocked energy weapons with invisible fields. Destroyed automated defenses before the relatively inexperienced heroes faced them.
Together, they were unstoppable.
There were a few accolades. Peter Parker came by to take photos of the young heroes for the Daily Bugle. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Maria Hill gave them all her personal thanks. When they had a few moments to themselves, Amadeus Cho cleared his throat.
"So...about that deal," the hulking 18-year-old said. "The one you made. You agreed if we rounded up the MGH operation, you'd do something for us."
Sue Storm felt her stomach flip a little. Hesitant. Perhaps even a little excited. The young men stared at her, smug, but with hungry eyes. They wanted something from her.
"That's right. So what did you boys want?"
The other young heroes shuffled. It wasn't easy to get read on Miles Morales when his mask was on, but Patriot and Speed grinned, confident, almost predatory.
"We want you to come to our local poker game," Cho said. "Once a week. For the rest of the year."
Sue Storm felt a sense of relief. Well, that wasn't so bad.
"What kind of poker?" she asked. "Texas Hold 'Em?"
Amadeus Cho showed a lot of teeth.
"Strip poker. See you Friday night."
What does Dr. Stone think of this turn of events?
