How do Sue Storm's nightmares affect her daily life?
Sue Reminisces About Her Time As Malice
Most of the time, when Sue Storm had a dream, it would fade within minutes after she awoke.
This nightmare, however, haunted her.
Malice had been psycho-surgically removed from her psyche. Sue no longer heard her voice, no longer felt that compulsion that there was someone else in her head. Yet the memories of what Malice had said and done remained with her. That was one secret the Invisible Woman had told no one, not even the rest of the Fantastic Four.
She remembered the feel of power wearing those revealing clothes, putting on that mask. The spikes, the latex. She had reveled in her sexuality and power. There were things she had done to herself, invisible force fields exploring fantasies that the Invisible Woman had never dared attempt...and the pain and pleasure of it had been glorious to that darker side of Sue Storm's personality.
Today, the family was going to the Museum of Natural History. Dinosaurs and taxidermied animals. Everyone in civilian garb. Even Ben Grimm, in his football jersey and enormous trenchcoat, simply looked like a linebacker in disguise.
It shouldn't have triggered anything in Sue.
Yet...
In every reflective surface, Sue Storm saw her own face, reflected darkly. Was that Malice's leer? Was that twisted visage the first hint of a madness once thought vanquished. As she herded the children through the museum, Sue's eyes lingered on the men and women in the crowd. The bulge that hinted at an erection. The woman flagrantly not wearing a bra, her nipples clearly outlined by the fabric of the shirt.
Sue remembered how it had started, with Malice. Those moments when someone else had taken control. Did llittle things that Sue had dreamed of but never dared to do. Used her powers in naughty ways. She had turned women's clothes invisible to spy on them. Stolen small objects from stores. Once, in the subway, she had made a woman believe that a man was molesting her—except there was no man. Just Malice, sitting by herself, pretending to read a paper as the woman grew more and more distraught, until finally they pulled into the next station and she had fled, torn pieces of her panties falling down her legs.
The Invisible Woman shuddered at the memory. Reed stretched out an arm to rub her shoulder.
"They do keep it cold in here, don't they?" he said. "Why don't we go out for pizza, to warm up?"
"PIZZA!" the kids screamed in unison.
Sue Storm smiled. Yet something dark and haunted lurked behind her eyes. Fearful of what the night might bring.
What does Sue Storm dream of that night?
