Chapter 10 by Zeebop Zeebop

Does anything interrupt Sue's trip back to the Baxter Building?

Sue's Return To The Baxter Building Is Delayed

When Sue Storm had entered Mae's house, the skies over Manhattan were clear. Now, dark clouds broiled overhead. Sue looked up and frowned. Rain had not been in the forecast—and as the first wet drops fell down, the naked Invisible Woman shivered.

Normally, the heroine would just create an invisible umbrella and stay dry. However, that would draw attention. An Invisible Woman might tiptoe through the raindrops unseen and undetected, but a moving spot of no rain would draw attention from the crowded streets.

So Sue Storm let the rain fall freely on her skin. She rose above the streets on invisible pillars, forging her own sky-road, her feet planted unerringly. Even if she couldn't see her own invisible **** fields, she had an uncanny sense of where they were. Within a block, she was shivering, soaked, the wild rain falling steadily and sucking heat from her body. Sue had to fight to keep her teeth from chattering, and her hair hung in damp locks about her face.

Yet there was something elemental about the whole situation. Sue almost relished the whipping winds that made the cold rain sting against her bare flesh. Glad that no one could see her...

Then she saw it. Floating out over the Hudson River, like a small spire of carefully-shaped coral, its lines too perfect to be natural, its composition too smooth and distinct to be merely human. Sue Storm knew Atlantean technology when she saw it.

And it had a swastika on it.

"The hell," she said to herself, clutching the folder in her hands. It was small enough that she could put a **** field around it to keep it dry without attracting notice. But this was...

She sighed. She had to call this in.

"Reed, there's some kind of Atlantean structure over the river. It might be Nazis. I'm moving to investigate," she said. A clipped conversation that anyone else would consider utterly insane, but for Sue it was a typical Wednesday.

Reed responded almost instantly.

"Understood, darling. Be careful. I'm measuring a significant power source in that area, definitely Atlantean technology. There's a note in the file about some Atlantean renegades that worked with Nazis during WWII..."

"Wonderful," she said, shifting her invisible **** fields into a moving platform. She didn't want to slip off in this rain. It was madness to try and deal with this while completely naked, but Sue knew she had ****. Lives might be at stake.

Her return to the Baxter Building would be delayed.

What happens as Sue Storm gets near to the Atlantean structure?
