Submission Requirements

Duration of the contest:

• The contest starts on the 14th of April, 2026. (As soon as chapters can be added.)
• The submission period ends at the end of the 23rd of May, 2026. (Time zone of your choice. A chapter is submitted as soon as it is successfully saved by using the Publish button.)

To participate in Faye's Official CHYOA Story Contest 2026, the following requirements need to be met:

• Each author can submit one story.
• The content needs to be new.
• The story needs to be written in English.
• The story needs to have at least one branching point.
• The story must use original characters. (To avoid any advantage or disadvantage when the story is reviewed by the judges.)
• The story must not use any images or graphics. (To avoid any advantage or disadvantage when the story is reviewed by the judges.)
• The story must consist of at least 1,500 and not more than 7,500 words. The line of consecutive chapters before the first branching point must consist of at least 500 words. At least two different lines of consecutive chapters following the first branching point must consist of at least 500 words each. To determine the number of words, we will use a word counter of our choice. If the story or parts of the story are outside the limits at the end of the submission period, the author will be informed and given seven days to edit the story to bring it into the required ranges. These edits must not significantly change the story.

Submissions failing to meet all requirements will be disqualified.

• The winners of the contest are determined by a panel of judges.

Copyright of submitted content:

• Participating authors maintain the copyright of the content they submitted but grant CHYOA the revocable right to display the submitted content on CHYOA. (Authors could later request the removal of the content.)

• By accepting a prize intended for stories placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, the respective authors agree to change the right to display the submitted content on CHYOA to be non-revocable. (Authors can later request the removal of their username from the chapters, but not the complete removal of the content.)

• Participating Authors agree not to publish the content anywhere else before the 23rd of May, 2026. After that date, authors can publish their story elsewhere, e.g. to publish it as a stand-alone story they can further expand on. If such a contest submission is published on CHYOA, we will be happy to put in a link to the new story upon request.
