Study the Sith

After watching them have sex, Obi-Wan wandered the halls of the temple in a state of rage. He clearly felt the surge of anger in him and was aware that he was no longer in balance. Finally, he did the only thing he knew he could do. He looked for a place in the garden and began to meditate. Even when his beloved had been killed, the teachings of the Jedi had brought him back peace and tranquility. But this was different. Even after 5 hours of uninterrupted meditation, that feeling was not gone.

"Worry you have, Obi-Wan?" he finally heard Yoda's voice and looked to the side where his former master came into the room.

"I don't know, Master Yoda. I feel a... emptiness inside me." He said honestly and Yoda nodded thoughtfully.

"It's not just you who feels this way, I'm afraid. Many feel this way. Afraid it's after effects of war." Gave Yoda to consider and gave him a wave to follow. Of course, Obi-Wan immediately rose and followed his master.

"Are you sure about that? I'm afraid it's more Anakin's fault. His special privileges within the Order." Just stating this simple truth was a simple stab to his heart.

"You think it's because of that?" asked Yoda thoughtfully. "I'm not sure. However, other more important we must discuss. The council is waiting."

After a short silence, they both arrived at the council chamber, where everyone else was already waiting. Even Anakin was already sitting in his chair. Anger flared up in Obi-Wan, but he quickly banished it under a mountain of vows and commandments of the Order. Calm as ever, he took his seat and looked to Mace Windu.

"I thank you all for coming. It's about the sects of Sith that have spread throughout the Republic." Started the black-skinned Master in his calm way and immediately some Jedi Masters started to murmur. It was not the first time Master Windu had brought this topic to the Council. Immediately, Master Yaddle began to speak.

"Again? Really?" she asked, seeming a little annoyed that this topic had come up again. Obi-Wan smiled when he heard her. Every time he heard her speak his mood got better. Unlike Yoda, she had mastered the Common language much better than Yoda even though she was almost 300 years younger than him.

"Yes again. We can't keep putting this off any longer. These cults are breaking out on many worlds and ..."

"So far, there has never been a single **** user among them. These cults have neither truly understood nor had access to the teachings of the Sith. They are mostly some unfortunate or misguided individuals crying after the Chancellor's dream. Nothing more. We should concentrate on more important things! Our own teachings!" Yaddle replied firmly as Yoda raised his hand to take the floor.

"What Obi-Wan thinks about it I want to know. In war much wisdom he showed. Always in Anakin he believed. Even when doubt we others had! Speak Master Kenobi."

Obi-Wan looked at the floor for a few seconds and then at the faces of all his friends and companions. Even at Anakin's face. His former student smiled at him, so pure and so even that it literally pained Obi-Wan. How had he been able to blame him. It was not Anakin’s fault.

On the contrary. He should be proud of his student. What Anakin had achieved everything. Thanks to his training. As Yoda had said it, it was the teachings of him that had made Anakin the savior.

Pride. Is that what it felt like? Why did the Jedi Council forbid that feeling anyway?

Slowly he rose, feeling much better. Slowly, he nodded to the group. "I'm afraid that Master Windu is right. However, my point is not to tell people what they can or cannot believe, that is not our job. Rather, we should try to follow Anakin's path. Our own teachings have clouded our vision. We must stop living in the past and look to the future. We now have opportunities we never had before. We should finally try to understand the teachings of the Sith." Obi-Wan replied calmly and matter-of-factly, nodding when the expected response came. Immediately, several masters jumped up to respond, but were interrupted by Anakin.

"Please listen to what Master Kenobi has to say. I am sure you will see the wisdom then." Said the Jedi Master calmly, and because of his special position he had the right to pass the word to anyone at any time.

"Thank you." Smiled Obi-Wan, feeling that pride again. Even now, in all his power, he felt the confidence from his former student and the hope of learning even more from him. "My point is not that we should add the teachings of the Sith to our own, but that we must finally learn to understand our enemy. What exactly do we know about the Sith? The teachings of the 2? That is nothing compared to the hyperspace wars 4000 years ago! What do we really know about Darth Revan? Darth Malak? And all the legends about other powerful Sith! There was a time when the Sith were as numerous as we Jedi, and yet for millennia we've been trying to destroy this philosophy that we don't even really understand."

He waited a few seconds, clearly sensing that the **** to his words had softened a bit. His words seemed to reach them, so he continued.

"Also, you must not forget one thing. The ****...knows no good or evil. We learned that through Anakin. Even we Jedi use an ability almost daily that would rightfully count as a dark **** to other beings."

"We're supposed to use a dark ****?" asked Master Windu, now incensed.

"The Jedi mind trick." Said Obi-Wan calmly, looking Windu straight in the eye. Those words hit home. The Jedi nodded slowly and even Master Windu sank back into his chair. Anakin was the only one who nodded sympathetically and proudly.

"We **** our will on other beings, and for what? For making it easy for us?" asked Obi-Wan quietly, then looked down at the floor. "I'm not trying to talk my way out of this. I've used that trick so many times too that I can't even count it anymore. But the more I think about it...why do it at all? We are keepers of the peace. Protectors. However, we impose our will on other beings to make it easier for ourselves."

"So, you heard Master Kenobi. Who thinks we should research the history of the Sith?" asked Master Shaak Ti, looking around the room as one by one they raised their hands until it was finally a unanimous result.

After an hour of deliberation, it was decided that Anakin, Shaak Ti and Plo Koon would leave for Korriban with the 501 Legion Skywalker. This was the world that was generally considered the home world of the Sith. If there was knowledge about the Order of the Sith that was still unknown to the Jedi, it was there.

Only two days later Anakin was already on the battlecruiser and started his journey.

Obi-Wan had tried in these 2 days to find his inner balance again, but at his soul gnawed unknown feelings. One of the strongest was envy, greed and anger.
