Student/Teacher Discussions (End of Episode 1)

"I saw Warren walking out of here," Roxanne said, as Summer scrambled to her feet. "Looked a little too pleased with himself. I suspected something like this had happened." The gym leader took a wipe from her bag and passed it to Summer. "Wipe your face," she said in response to Summer's confused expression, and she followed her teacher's instruction, removing the traces of Warren's cum from her cheek. "I was concerned about this kind of behaviour, particularly from our male student body, when the pokémon partner initiative was proposed. Nothing to be done, unfortunately, and I still believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, but..." She sighed, looking Summer up and down. "At least he didn't cum inside you, judging by the state of you. I've been spending this whole lunch hour policing condom use.

Summer had no idea what to say; once again Roxanne's casual discussion of sexual activities was throwing her off, even with what she'd just done herself; her ruined panties and the fact that she had only just come down from her orgasm didn't help her feel any less uncomfortable. She also was fighting against an urge to tell Roxanne everything going on with Warren, but she doubted the teacher would believe her, or could take action if she did; there was no actual proof of Warren's cheating, and his family's influence was far too great for anything to be done on mere accusations from other students. "Um... th-thank you," she said hesitantly. "For the wipe. And... for the advice, in the lesson. It... it helped." She blushed. "Um... I need to heal my Marill, and then I guess I should get to my next class." She nodded a farewell to the gym leader and started to head to the school nurse's office.

"Wait, Summer," said Roxanne, stopping the girl in her tracks. Summer turned back around to face her, a questioning expression on her face. "Come to my office," Roxanne said simply. "There's a healing machine there for your Marill, and... I'd like to discuss some things with you."

Summer stared at her curiously. What could the Rustboro gym leader possibly have to discuss with her of all people? But she could hardly refuse such an offer from a teacher. "Thank you," she nodded, and allowed Roxanne to lead the way inside to her office.

The room Summer found herself in was furnished with oak wood, and had a professional-yet-homely vibe to it. The chair Summer sat in opposite Roxanne at her desk was far softer and more comfortable than she'd expected from such an outwardly business-like woman, especially one who specialised in rock-type pokémon. Roxanne took Marill's pokéball from Summer and placed it in the healing machine at the back of the office, before offering her some tea, which she gladly accepted; her throat was still sore from her earlier ordeal.

The tea poured, Roxanne began to speak. "Tell me everything that happened with Warren," she said, not wasting any further time getting to the point. "Not the forfeit, don't worry, but the rest of it. And tell me honestly."

Summer's eyes widened as she studied Roxanne's face. Did she suspect something from the boy also? It couldn't be, could it? Still... she couldn't find it in herself to disobey her teacher. She began her story of tailing Jerry and the others and what she had overheard, followed by her battle with Warren, trying her best to include as much detail as possible to assure Roxanne that she was telling the truth.

(Heart [1d6] check to convince Roxanne - rolls 6. 6 explodes, 2nd roll is 5. 6+5=11 - critical success. So Roxanne not only believes Summer, but is willing to share her own information).

Roxanne nodded slowly as Summer finished her story; her face had remained impassive throughout, but now Summer could swear she saw a glimmer of something behind the stoic woman's eyes. "I see," the gym leader said slowly. "You were very brave, Summer. It is commendable."

Summer blushed at the praise, not having been expecting it at all. "Th-thank you...!" she stammered in response. "So... you believe me?"

"Absolutely," Roxanne replied. "In fact, having heard all of that... I trust you implicitly. More than anyone in the school, perhaps the entire city."

Wh-what?! This was all very sudden; Summer didn't quite know how to process it. This day was insane.

Roxanne clearly sensed the girl's confusion. "I only started teaching at this school a few months into last year, as you know. I have always said that my experiences at this school shaped me into the trainer I am today, and that I wanted to give back to education in any way I could. This is true, but... there was another reason for me joining the staff here: to investigate the steady rise in the influx of performance-enhancing **** among the student body."

Summer's eyes grew even wider. "Wait... you're like... a secret agent?!" she exclaimed in disbelief.

Roxanne smiled. "Not quite. Merely acting out of concern for my city, as any gym leader should. The thing is... I now believe the **** supply to be the work of a certain organization. Team Magma... you may have heard of them."

(Research [1d6] check for information on Team Magma - rolls 3 - failure.)

Summer shook her head, having racked her brains for any knowledge she had about a group by that name and coming up short. "Sorry... no," she said.

"They are a climate change activism group," said Roxanne. "Ostensibly. They are lobbying for action to combat the rising sea levels, and have attracted a number of influential people across Hoenn and beyond to their cause. But there are a few of us who suspect... that Team Magma are involved in criminal activity."

Summer once again could only stare incredulously. "But... why are you telling me this?" she asked. "I'm just a student, and not even that good of one! Yeah, I challenged Warren, but I couldn't stop him, couldn't get any proof of him using **** - the other staff will never agree to investigate him with his family's influence. I just... don't understand."

Roxanne smiled again, her eyes surprisingly kind. "You have given me something very valuable, Summer. Someone I can trust. As you say, Warren's family's influence is strong in this school, but Team Magma's influence is strong across the entire region. Attempting to combat them is... difficult. But from you telling me about Warren so openly, and the way you protected those other students and that Zigzagoon at risk to yourself... I know you are someone to be depended on."

Summer's face burned with embarrassment and pride. She didn't know what to say.

Roxanne didn't seem to need a response. She went into the drawers of her desk. "I'm going to give you something."

(Detail Focus - What does Roxanne give Summer? - Unexpected (Technical)

The red handheld device that Roxanne produced from the drawer and placed in Summer's hand was unmistakable. "A... a pokédex?!" Summer stuttered in disbelief.

"By my power as a gym leader," Roxanne said, "you, Summer of Rustboro City, are henceforth a licensed pokémon trainer, sanctioned by the Pokémon League. You may still complete your education here if you wish, but you now have all rights - and responsibilities - of an official trainer." She took the pokéball containing Summer's now-healed Marill from the machine and handed it to her. "This pokémon is yours now, officially. Your starter pokémon."

"B-but... why... what...?!" Summer's heart was racing. A licensed pokémon trainer? This was huge, a massive step in her goal to become a ranger. And it's not like she'd disappointed her parents by dropping out of the Trainer's School early to receive the license - she could still graduate from the school as planned. And she got to keep her Marill, as long as she wanted! This was all incredible, but... "Why?" she asked again. "Thank you, but..."

"I have a problem," said Roxanne grimly, cutting off Summer's half-formed questions. "It feels... wrong... to ask a student for help with this, but you're only two years younger than myself when I became a gym leader. Besides... I saw potential in the way you battled against Georgia. And then, a wild pokémon coming to your aid in the battle with Warren, and nearly defeating a pokémon that had been enhanced with ****? These things don't just happen by accident. You're special."

Summer's face flushed at yet more praise, but she **** herself to look at Roxanne seriously. "What's the problem?" she asked. The look on her teacher's face when she'd said it had concerned her.

(Plot Hook - Objective: Save an ally in peril. Adversaries: Outlaws. Reward: Money or valuables.)

Roxanne sighed deeply. "It's... Flannery. The new leader of Lavaridge Town gym. We're... seeing each other." This was the most **** Roxanne had ever seemed to Summer - while she wasn't crying or even tearing up, she could sense the slightest cracks in the gym leader's otherwise unflappable demeanour. "We've been investigating Team Magma together, and... their presence has grown around Lavaridge and Fallarbor Town recently. And now... I haven't heard from Flannery in over two weeks. She's not responding to calls, messages, anything. I even sent a flying pokémon out with a letter for her, but it never returned."

Summer, for what felt like the millionth time today, was near-speechless. "So... you want me to..."

"I cannot leave the gym and the school," nodded Roxanne. "Not without arousing some kind of suspicion; I believe Team Magma has operatives in place around the whole city. But you... you could go to Lavaridge Town and check on Flannery for me. If she has been captured by Team Magma I don't want you engaging with them or putting yourself in danger, but... just knowing what's happening... would be a great help to me." She smiled weakly at Summer. "I would offer payment for your services, obviously-"

"There's no need," Summer said quickly. Her face was etched in determination. "I'll do it!" This was, after all... a task that called for the services of a Pokémon Ranger.

End of Episode 1.

(Author's Note: Thought that was a good place to end the session. Did not see ANY of that development coming - I genuinely planned to have a whole school investigation arc looking into Warren and the **** etc. But that's the joy of this process! Hope you all enjoyed!

End of Episode admin:

Summer gains one Trainer Advancement. These are gained when a trainer takes a significant step towards their Calling - I think that very much happened in this Episode lol. Summer spends the Advancement to upgrade her Heart from 1d6 to 1d8. From a meta standpoint I should really be upgrading her terrible Tactics stat, but it feels more right for the character to have a lot of Heart.

Summer gains 2 Pokémon EXP. This is gained from facing challenges together with her pokémon - so one for the battle with Georgia and one for the battle with Warren - even in a loss, they still faced a challenge together. Summer spends these points to upgrade Marill's Bubble Beam to 1d8, and Rain Dance to 1d6.)
