Steps in a Patch of Mud

"'Let's take a shortcut and climb up the mountain,' Are you kidding me! I've had enough of this hiking! Why do people even want to do something like this?" Claire grumbled as she stomped down the trail.

As she walking through the trail, Claire took another granola bar to re-energize. After finishing the granola bar, she threw away the wrapper once again, not even considering the consequences it cause to the environment. Claire smirked as how easy it was to just take the normal trail.

"See, this route is so much easier to take. I bet they're regretting their decision no- AHHHHH!!!"

Before she could finish, the Claire felt both her feet suddenly sink to the floor before she felt onto her knees and hands. She felt herself sink again before realizing she accidentally felt into a sticky patch of mud.

"Arrrrghh!!! This is why I hate the outdoors!" Claire groaned as she tried getting up. The young lady couldn't help but groan constantly as she realized she got her hands and new capris pants dirty from the mud. But because of her constant bickering and grunting out her frustrations, Claire, once again, lost her balance and squealed before falling square on her butt, this time her feet popped right out of her shoes, leaving the pair stuck on the ground.

"Goddammit!" Claire yelled, realizing that her pants got even dirtier along with her white pair of socks. She tried getting up slowly this time. When her butt left the ground, it left a muddy mark on her butt shaped as a peach. Not to mention, she also left imprint on the ground shaped like a peach as well. As soon as she got up, she tried taking a step but realized her foot was stuck again.

"Dammit!" Claire muttered as she tried pulling her foot out harder, but only succeeded in stretching her socks. The pair of socks were stuck as well. She'd have to take them off. Once again, Claire pulled again, letting the socks stretch as her foot slowly slid off until her foot popped out. She made sure her foot would land on the dry ground before leaping out of the mud, leaving the other sock behind. She felt the soft dirt beneath the the soles of her bare feet, making her want to get her shoes even more.

She turned around, ready to pull her shoes out of the mud, but strangely she couldn't find her shoes. Not to mention, her socks were missing as well. It was as if they just just suddenly suck into the ground.

"Huh, where'd my shoes go?" Claire was confused how her shoes could suddenly disappear right in front of her.

Not having any luck of finding them, Claire had **** but to continue the hike, barefoot.
