Stealth is better

You decide to keep in the dark, and give yourself a few moments to adjust to the darkness. While you by no means have a skill to see in these conditions, eventually you adjust to be able to see in all but the darkest of corners. You make your way deeper into the ruins, down ancient stone stairwells and hallways, and the smell of filth soon hits you. You see an entrance not far away, and figure that must be the source of the smell and hopefully the goblins.
