Staying in-character

With her options limited, it was probably for the best if she lived Nurse Joy's life for the time being. It would only be for as long as the two of them were eating dinner, so Ash felt that it shouldn't be a problem. But since living her life meant doing what Nurse Joy normally would, that meant having to pick up the work she had inadvertently pulled her away from. Thus, pen still firmly gripped in her hand, she began working through the stack of documents waiting to be filled out.

While she had already done her little test just earlier, the full extent to which the remote allowed her to access Nurse Joy's knowledge was honestly astonishing. Be it requesting new supplies of medicine, planning out the inventory for the kitchen or even managing the guest records, Ash went about everything as though she had years of experience. Any time she needed to consult any of the previous month's filings, she instinctually knew where to find the exact folder she needed. When doing the finances, something she had never done even once in her life, she crunched the numbers with practiced ease, somehow certain that she was going about everything correctly. To any outside observer, it would appear as if Nurse Joy was working as diligently and routinely as always. And just like that, she kept working like this for a good while.

Quite some time had passed and the stack of paper shrunken significantly when Ash leaned back for a short break. Looking at the pile she had finished so far, all adorned with the same neat handwriting found on every other document in the cabinets around her, she couldn't believe just how well she was doing. At this point, it was clear to her that it wasn't just knowledge that she could access. Skills, muscle memory, even actual memories were all made accessible to her so she could seamlessly live Nurse Joy's life. Though, for the latter one, she wasn't able to access them in their entirety, at least at the moment. Was it situational or would she gain all her memories over time? Either way, she couldn't find out right away, so she put that thought aside.

After a few minutes of break time, Ash was just about to get back to work and finish up the remaining files. However, before she could get started on the first one, a voice from the side called for her attention.

"Chansey!" the familiar helper Pokémon called out with a friendly expression. "Sey Cha."

Aided by the remote's power, it didn't take long for Ash to interpret what her aide wanted. "Oh, is it time to close the kitchen already?" she asked, having turned away from the desk.

"Sey!" Chansey nodded, waiting for Ash to join her.

As she was currently living the life of Nurse Joy, it seemed like the best course of action for Ash to do as she was expected and help out with the kitchen. According to her new memories, it would only take her a few minutes anyway, so she would probably be fine. Thus, she sent Chansey on ahead and, once she was out of sight, hid the remote in one of the desk's drawers. Shortly after, she quickly followed behind.

Closing down the kitchen was a process that consisted of a few steps, some of which required the presence of Nurse Joy. To start with, the leftovers of the day had to be taken care of. Fortunately, there was only a small amount of the evening's pasta left, so Ash was able to fill it into a new container and set it aside for another day's lunch break. This freed up the large pot, which unfortunately did not fit into the dishwasher and had to be cleaned by hand. Another task Ash was needed for. In the meantime, Chansey placed the remaining cooking utensils in the dishwasher so they could be cleaned later. Once the pot was sufficiently clean, it was time to take stock of the ingredients in storage. This didn't take too much time, since only the ones involved in the day's dish had to be checked, so she was done fairly quickly. With Chansey using that time to switch off most of the other equipment, the only task that was left was to bring in the used dishes from the dining area.

Wanting to check on Mallow and Nurse Joy, Ash didn't have to think twice about whether she wanted to take care of this. After letting her partner know, she headed back out of the kitchen door and took a right turn towards the entrance to the dining area. With the kitchen wall blocking her view, it took her a few steps until she could finally see the entirety of the space.
