Stay in the Dorm

“Weiss is pretty well known in the city,” Jaune said slowly. “I doubt I want to be hassled by merchants.”

“Or the White Fang,” Ruby added. “So stay here?”

“You wanted a sleep over,” Jaune reminded her. “Might as well start now.” He looked around. “I passed Blake reading in the courtyard before coming here, but what’s Yang up to?”

“She’s in the gym lifting weights,” Ruby answered. “Every time Pyrrha beats her, she goes there for an hour or two to work off frustration. Usually we just meet her for dinner.”

“That means I don’t have to act like Weiss,” Jaune sounded relieved. Not that he didn’t like Weiss, it was just acting like someone else for an extended period of time seemed like a hassle. “What kind of things did you have planned when you finally arranged a sleepover?”

“I have some card games,” Ruby informed him, her eyes sparkling. “I wanted to play this one two player one, but it’s supposed to be really long and Yang won’t stick around to actually finish. We got video games, snacks, and comics. It’s going to be great!”

“I like the sound of that,” Jaune agreed. “And if Yang or Blake asks why Weiss is doing this with you, I’ll say you made me promise to if you got your work done.”

“I’m smart,” Ruby puffed out her chest. “I just don’t like homework. Writing essays isn’t like fighting Grimm.”

“Can’t argue with that,” Jaune said with a nod. Ruby opened her mouth to ask what he wanted to do first, when her Scroll buzzed. Her eyes widened when she saw who the message was from and she jumped to her feet.

“Professor Goodwitch is asking me to see her immediately!” Ruby cried out frantically to Jaune. “Why?”

“I don’t know,” Jaune replied. “You better go. It’s not smart to keep her waiting.”

“I’ll be right back,” Ruby assured him. “Comics are in the bookshelves to keep yourself occupied.” Jaune waved goodbye as she zipped out the door.

He was now alone in the room and needed to decide what to do to kill time.
