Ruby has Another Idea.

Chapter 10 by TheBlinded TheBlinded

“Oh!” Ruby’s eyes lit up as another idea came to her.

“Go on,” Jaune prodded.

“What if you… here me out on this,” Ruby explained. “Life Swap with Weiss?” Jaune stared at her with his mouth open. “No good?” She asked quietly, as Jaune continued to gap at her.

“I’m trying to think of why you think that’s a good idea,” Jaune said slowly. “Not that I’m opposed. Pretty surprised though.”

“Weiss is on my back about homework,” Ruby explained. “So as long as she’s around, I won’t have any free time.” Her face formed into a pout and she crossed her arms again. “I really could use a break. If we only swapped bodies with her, she would just be scolding me with her new body. You know how hard it would be to not laugh at your body trying that?”

“I wouldn’t be able to avoid laughing if it was you,” Jaune agreed and Ruby lightly punched him in the arm.

“But if you Life Swap with her,” Ruby continued. “We could hang out without a problem. Just for a little while of course. Maybe have a sleepover. I’ve been wanting one for ages, but Weiss has refused to let you over, Blake doesn’t seem to care either way, and Yang just keeps teasing me about you being a boy. Think of all the fun we could have together for a day or two. I love Weiss, she’s my best friend, but you’re my best guy friend. Plus, sometimes, I could just use a break from Weiss.”

“Pretty sure she said the same thing about you,” Jaune pointed out.

“She said we were besties? Yay!”

“I suppose that idea sounds fun,” Jaune admitted. “If Yang and Blake get suspicious, I can always hit the reset button.”

“See, no problem whatsoever,” Ruby agreed. “Then I can swap with someone.” She placed her hands together in front of her face. “Pleeeeaaase?”

“Of course you can,” Jaune sighed, unable to resist her pleading expression. He picked up the remote. “So we go back to your dorm and the second we see Weiss, I’m going to hit the button. You need to be touching the remote or you won’t be aware of the swap.”

“Got it!” Ruby gave a mock solute.

The two of them left Jaune’s room and Ruby opened hers. Weiss was just spinning around when Jaune aimed the remote as Ruby placed her hand on it. A flash of light went off and Jaune found himself sitting at Weiss’s desk. He turned around to receive quite a sight. Weiss was standing where he had been, minus the remote now in his hand. Instead of her elegant thigh-length strapless dress with a faint color gradation from white to pale blue at the hem, which was stitched to resemble snowflakes, she was wearing Jaune’s old t-shirt and pants. While funny, there was something Jaune didn’t expect.

Her white hair, which used to be long and pulled into an off center bun tail on her right side, was not short, blond, and messy. For some reason, their hair also switched during the life swap. Maybe it was some kind of indicator. It’s not like Jaune knew how the remote worked. His head felt heavier on one side, so there was little doubt he had Weiss’s hairdo. Ruby’s pained expression of trying to hold back her laughter only reinforced his belief.

“We’re back!” Ruby added, more for Weiss’s benefit now in Jaune’s life. Jaune wasn’t entirely sure if he could pull off acting like Weiss. He inhaled sharply and felt what would come naturally.

“About time,” he said, his voice a little sharper than his usual light tone, though not nearly antagonistic. “You may leave, Arc.”

“Right,” Weiss said nervously. “It was nice to see you, Weiss. Ruby, good luck.” She backed out and Ruby closed the door behind her, before breaking out into laughter.

“You look hilarious!” Ruby gasped, gesturing to Jaune. Jaune sighed and looked down at his outfit. He was indeed wearing Weiss’s dress. The thing was, he was still in his body and was easily over a foot taller than Weiss. The dress changed to fit his frame, but a good part of his upper body was showing off his muscles. The bell-sleeved bolero Weiss normally wore was resting on the back of his chair. “Her hair doesn’t suit you.”

“Tell me about it,” Jaune agreed and looked into the mirror. He didn’t see himself though. His reflection was of his perfect Snow Angel, though her expression was one of surprise. Ruby noticed him staring and looked at the mirror too.

“So that’s what you look like to other people,” Ruby commented. “No one would be able to tell the difference. She acted exactly like you would.” She frowned. “How did you imitate Weiss so well, anyways? I know she should imitate you because the remote made her believe she was always you.”

“It’s hard to explain, but I’ll try.” Jaune fumbled for the right words. “It’s like I kind of know how to act like her. Right now, I feel like I want to get you back at your desk and make you work.” Ruby’s eyes went wide. “The feelings and desires are suppressible…” Ruby’s face relaxed. “…so we can act like normal when we are alone, but I can keep in character around others.” Zwei, Ruby’s corgi that she was hiding from the professors at Beacon, walked up and Jaune scratched him behind the ears.

“That remote is so convenient,” Ruby said and Jaune couldn’t help but agree. “So now that we are free, what should we do now?”

A. Stay in the Dorm

B. Have Fun Around Beacon

C. Head into the City of Vale
