You stay.
Not forever. But long enough.

The little red dragon needs you. He doesn’t understand yet that his father is gone, and he thinks that you are his true father. This world is vast and dangerous. So you teach him: how to hunt, how to fly, and how to breathe fire without burning his own nose.

Months later. His wings strengthen. His scales harden. He no longer stumbles when he lands. He's clever and creative.
He can transform into a kid with ruby eyes and long black hair.
One evening, he brings you a freshly caught deer. You smile, rubbing the scales behind his head. The dragon guards are clapping, and they love him.

"You don’t need me anymore," you say softly. "It’s time to go."
You speak with him, and you explain the whole story. He's sad, but he understands that you have to return with your family...

The magic stone still glows in your palm. You throw it, and a portal opens.
You take a deep breath, step into the light…

And you land in the middle of the street; you can still smell the scent of smoke and embers in the air, but they are quickly replaced with the scents of the real world.

You always remember the little dragon and your quest; some bonds never break.
