Chapter 70 by Zingiber Zingiber

Describe a result for complicated or partial success when you try to catch the thieves.

Squeeze out through the wards and leap up to catch the thieves

You rise, Sapienta wrapped round your forearm, and look out at the orchard. There's a mist obscuring the tops of the trees. The spider-strands indicate something is happening to the ripe fruits on the far end.

You work your way through Firetail's wards and out of the stone hut at the corner of the orchard. In your hurry to work through the wards, you've lost your touch on the spider-strands, but you know something is happening in the tops of the trees, in the mist. You tiptoe into the orchard and pause, looking up, listening hard. There's barely a breath of wind, but up in the branches, you hear a creak from a bending limb and a rustle of leaves.

Bending your knees, you make a pass with your wand and whisper, "Saltatio". Sheathing your wand, you push off into a magically assisted leap, reaching out your hands ready to grasp. But instead, your wrists are seized and you're pulled up through a veil of mist to come eye to eye with a familiar face.

"Redmoor!," she hisses in surprise.

It's Barbara Torch, lately Warden of House Leontes, riding on a cloud over the Garden of Delights, who has caught you by the wrists.

"If you let me go, this will be the last time," she says. "Firetail is jealous of the Garden, but I have enough fruit to give me a new start."

Do you let Barbara Torch go, or stay with your purpose?
