Split attention

After breakfast, everyone gathers in the meeting room, and Damon is the first to speak. “So, I know you’re excited to get going, everyone, but I’m afraid that Liam and myself will be staying behind.”

Alicia looks at him, surprised. “I figured you would want to keep an eye on us, why are you staying here?”

Liam sighs. “We need to look at the latest scans. Damon has a theory, and he wants my help with it.”

Kyrie grins. “More Mike for us, then!”

Damon rolls his eyes. “Just be cautious, I don’t want to see riots on the news.”

Alicia laughs. “Well, fortunately, we’re just bringing him to Fiona today.”

Mike nods. “I can’t see this going badly. I’ll be glad to see outside again finally!”

Kyrie winks. “And you’ll have plenty of fun, too!”

Liam giggles. “Mike’s racking up quite the little harem already!”

Mike chuckles. “I certainly can’t complain. It’s been very pleasant so far!”

Kyrie laughs, and Alicia playfully shoves him. Liam leans forward, and his eyes sparkle as he speaks in a quiet voice. “And it will only get more pleasant!”

Damon clears his throat to regain everyone’s attention. “Regardless, we may need Mike for another test tomorrow, so please try to get him back in one piece. Give my regards to Fiona, and Mike, enjoy your ‘interview’.”

The girls giggle, and Mike chuckles. “I will, no doubt.”
