"Seriously? That's great! Sooner we find the asshole who's using his quirk to fuck around with us the better," she says optimistically, sitting at attention. "To be honest, it's kinda a good thing we're on this island right now, because I would NOT want the press catching wind of what I'm gonna do when we find him."

As you explain your theory, that optimistic look on her face vanishes. "...My guess is that my quirk-related features will continue to fade, until I'm quirkless. And your new... features... will continue growing in. It's just a guess, but I'd assume that the only reason the transformation hasn't completed yet is because Cattle is a mutant type quirk, and the physical changes need time to take affect."

Yu is silent. Suddenly, she pounds the ground with her fist, creating a plume of sand. Was she normally that strong?

"I don't care how long it takes. I don't care. We are getting off this island," she says, her shaking voice betraying her calm tone. She looks dead at you. "You're with me, right?"

You say yes. What else are you supposed to say? You and Yu spend the rest of the day discussing strategy and gathering firewood. Much to your delight, you find a coconut tree, and you and Yu promptly crack open and devour several, bottling the coconut water. You both agree to explore in the morning, and unsuccessfully try to start a fire before lying down in the sand to sleep. Eventually, despite the brisk night air, you manage to nod off to the sound of the waves.

"Psst. Ren!" You feel someone shaking your shoulder.

"Hrnn...Huh?" You drowsily groan, awakening. What time was it? It’s still too dark to see clearly; the brilliant stars and the half moon are your only source of light.

“Hey, sorry to wake you,” Yu says, kneeling beside you. “I know today sucked. I wanted to- to apologize, for earlier. For not being able to protect you. Protecting people is my job, and I failed. And then I asked for help escaping? I should be the one saving you.”

She takes a long exhale, before offering a small smile. “I also wanted to thank you for dinner. It was nice. I honestly can’t say when the last time I had that much fun on a date was. It was refreshing.”

Now listening attentively, you shake your head. “Listen, don’t be too hard on yourself. All this? I doubt it was in your job description. And that villain was absurd. I doubt anyone short of All Might could take him down.” You give a sad smile. “And yeah... that date was fun. I haven’t been out like that in ages... normally I’m too awkward. But with you, it seems different.” You sigh as you lie back down. “It’s a shame it got cut short... but maybe we can start where we left off once we’re outta here.”

Yu smiles, as she stands up and begins to walk away. “You’re a pretty cool guy, Ren.” Suddenly, she stops. “...Actually, who says we need to wait until we escape to resume it?” She says, a familiar wolfish grin spreading across her face. “You know... something to take our minds off all this crap?”

Now standing over you, she leans down, her hands on her hips, and a glint in her eye. “What d’ya say, Mr. Yamada? If there ever was a time when we could use a little ‘fun’, it’d be now~”
