Sound Her Out

"Hey uh... Ally?" You ask, nervously.

"Yeah, M?"

"You er... you having fun otherwise?"

"I mean, kinda? It was nice checking the exhibits out. You know how I get about monsters and stuff."

That's right! She was probably the most excited one about coming! She's the one who fan-edits the Universal Monsters wiki! You'd almost forgotten in your panic, but Allegra is seriously into monsters.

...and maybe into having a friend that's one?

"...I bet. Kind of your Christmas, huh?"

"Tell me about it," she says with a chuckle.

"You ever thought about what it'd be like to be a monster?" You ask, testing the waters.

"...yes," she says, after a moment's hesitation and an audible squirm that makes your ears twitch.

"What kind would you want to be?"

"You promise you won't laugh?"

"It'll be just between you, me, and the stall wall," you reassure her.

"A werewolf."

You make a squirm of your own as she says it. Your knuckles frost over with hair, and your nails push forth a little more, nearly claws now.

"R-really? Why's that?"

"Well it's the part-time one, isn't it? Folks just think you're a normal person, but once a month you get to let it all out. Go wild. Unleash the beast."

You give a hard swallow and a wince, your teeth lancing into full-fledged fangs as your brow begins to throb, pulsing into a brutish ridge over your eyes.

"You... you make it sound pretty hot, Ally."

"That's why I wanted to make sure you weren't gonna laugh. It's... been a fantasy of mine."
