What new complications will these add for me today?
Something useful and not so much right now...
As he walked down the sidewalk to the bus stop a few blocks down from his home, John kept spamming Observe until he got to the bus stop. Eventually, he managed to get it to Lvl 2, but it still didn't give much info, or at least no stats yet. Maybe it would need to get to Lvl 5 or something before it gave him anything actually useful other than bare-bones brief descriptions of people or objects. It wasn't a complete waste, as he noticed from the early morning joggers and drivers going past as he Observed them something useful, though he still had to confirm it later.
Most people were around Lvl 8-10 on average. The more physically fit and active people he'd seen were between Lvl 11-13 on average. Which meant his mother's Lvl 9 was about average, yet the fact she'd dual-classed made it more impressive. If she put twice the effort into it, then that meant she'd been a real hard worker. She might have even had the highest Lvl he'd seen so far if she'd only single-classed...but then again, she'd been forced to after dad died.
It also meant that my own Lvl 4 was actually pretty damn pathetic. Although until I can see others stats with Observe, I won't know where I stand stat-wise, whether average, above it, or even below it. Knowing my luck, I wouldn't be surprised if I was essentially a candy-assed weakling in both Lvl and stats, Awakened bloodline or not. I'm just never so lucky as to catch a break without some catch being involved. Case in point, my new video game-based powers set to hard mode with a voyeuristic literal Goddess with a capital 'G' using me as her personal entertainment.
After that rather cheerful thought, I finally made it to the bus stop. He had a few minutes until it was scheduled to arrive still, so he brought up the inventory to see what skill books he got, and felt his brows raise at the description windows.

Skill Book: System Guide
A skill book containing the basic info guide for your system features. Using this will grant you the Guide system features, and a tutorial for them. Any future features unlocked in the system's guide menu will gain a new section in the guide upon unlocking it. Grants the Core System skills ID Create and ID Escape upon completion of tutorial.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skill Book: Abyssal Kama Sutra
A manual containing the sexual techniques and tricks on how to turn your lovers into putty in your embrace while making love to them. Enhances all Sexual skills gained permanently upon use. Using this skill book grants the Eromancy skill.
================================================================================================================
Seeing the descriptions, though tempted by the second, John immediately became focused on the first one. A system guide? And if what he suspects is true of those two skills, an easy way to power level up given enough time and training! Do I wanna use it, you ask? Yes please! Thank you Gaia! I could kiss you right now!
================================================================================================================
(I'd much rather a messy kiss from your lower head with my lower mouth, but unfortunately for us both, that's not likely to ever happen. You'll still have to keep your V-card for a while longer, I'm afraid.)
================================================================================================================
...oh damn...is she saying what I think...no wonder she seems to have managed to have evaded the horny police despite her blatant and open lust. She can't get any action herself, so she's forced to use me like I used av actresses in the pornos I used to watch to get off with in the past...I swear to try and get laid as soon as I reasonably can for your entertainment, Gaia.
================================================================================================================
(Much appreciated.)
Increased REP with Gaia
================================================================================================================
After making that promise with my patron, I immediately used the system guide and began the tutorial.
================================================================================================================
System Guide Tutorial
Welcome to your System Guide. This tutorial will give you the basic rundown of the currently unlocked system features. Any features not explained or locked during this tutorial need to be unlocked at a later time and date, and will receive their own tutorial in the guide section.
For now, start by simply saying aloud or mentally thinking 'Menu'.
================================================================================================================
Going along with the direction, I mentally think 'Menu', and the prompt changes to match. Afterwards, a window displaying several features, both locked and unlocked, appears in my HUD interface. then a message window opens up next with further instructions...
================================================================================================================
This is the System Menu. Any Core System features will be displayed here upon unlocking them. From here, there are several options currently unlocked.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First things first, the Status feature. Since you've already seen the status screen upon becoming the Gamer, you know what it is. A more thorough explanation can be read in the Guide feature later on upon completing this tutorial for the sake of expediency. [Make sure to study it later. It might save your life when you least expect it.]
The Skills feature gives an in depth look at what skills you have, their effects, levels, and whatever miscellaneous information they have such as MP cost(if any), skill types, etc. Any Skill Books you use will add them into the list, however, do keep in mind you can only learn a limited amount of skills from Skill Books. This limit can be increased based upon your INT and WIS stats, so choose your Skills wisely. More detailed information can be found in the Guide upon completion of the Tutorial.
The Traits feature lists all currently held traits. These traits can be both beneficial and detrimental, reflecting the Gamer's perks and flaws. Traits can be obtained from completing Quests, Achievements, or as a result of certain actions. Some Traits even have conditions which allow them to change, evolve, or even be removed outright. More details can be read in the Guide upon Tutorial completion.
The Inventory feature is essentially a pocket space for item storage. A mainstay of any video game, you now possess a similar ability that can be accessed from anywhere that can hold any weight without restriction, however you have a limited number of storage space. A single inventory space can stack multiples of the same item, or you can store a storage container to expand the Inventory's available storage slots. You can also receive special inventory expansion upgrades as rewards or loot drops for certain Quests or Dungeon Clears, granting additional inventory spaces independent of your base storage amount. The number of base Inventory slots are roughly equal to 1.5 times your STR and END combined, then rounded down. You can store anything so long as it is not a living thing within your Inventory. [The Guide explains all these features, so you don't need to go through that section. It simply repeats all this info, and you pretty much already know what an Inventory is.]
The Quests feature is a list of all your current active quests. Opening this allows you to review any quests and their details in order to complete them. For more detailed explanations, consult the Guide feature after the tutorial. For now, open the Quest section for the next part of the Tutorial.
================================================================================================================
With a mental command, I select the Quest option and the window opens a list of my current Quests. It's divided into three sections. 'Active Quests', which seems to contain every incomplete Quest, and lists their objectives, both required and optional, if any. Next is the 'Available Quests', which shows any Quests I encountered and may choose whether or not to accept them, so long as it's not an auto-accepted one.
The third and final section however, catches my eye with a clear exclamation mark blinking next to it as the system automatically selects 'Pending Quests' and opens that tab for me.
================================================================================================================
Pending Quests Tutorial
In this section, you will see your completed quests and whatever rewards you can claim. Currently, your only Pending Quest is the initial Tutorial Quest. Select this Quest to claim your completion rewards.
================================================================================================================
Mentally shrugging, I select it and comply with the instructions.
================================================================================================================
Get ready for school: Complete
Reward: 20 EXP
Bonus Reward: 10 EXP
================================================================================================================
As soon as that window closes, the Tutorial moves on with the next window.
================================================================================================================
Some Quests complete automatically when finished, but others must be completed manually. Make sure to check your Quest Log often to see what rewards you may or may not have yet received.
The Achievements feature is a list of all currently completed achievements and the rewards received for completing them. All achievements are hidden until earned, so you must try to find them yourself. Consult the Guide upon completing the Tutorial for more details.
The Fast Travel feature is essentially what the name implies; a method for quickly traveling from one location to the next. This bus stop is a Fast Travel Point, and thus is now an applicable target to get to and from in the Fast Travel menu. Any other Fast Travel Points must first be found in order to unlock them in the list. Keep in mind, you must pay both MP and money to use this feature. If you do not have the funds or MP, you cannot use the Fast Travel feature. Try to reserve it for emergencies if you cannot afford it casually. [This is basically a magic taxi service provided by me. Of course it's not free, even Gods and Goddesses have things we'd like to buy every now and then.]
================================================================================================================
I barely had time to raise my brows at that little comment from my snarky patron Goddess before the window closed and the next window opened in the Tutorial.
================================================================================================================
The Call GM feature is a method to contact your Divine Patron, Gaia, directly. In the event there is a serious problem with the System, a request to Gaia, or a question the System Guide cannot answer, you can call her using this feature through the system. However, Gaia herself may not always be able to respond, as she is a very busy Goddess. So if your calls do not go through, it may be she cannot respond at the moment, or you do not have a properly strong enough signal to contact her with, or there is something blocking the Call GM function.
Finally, there is the Guide feature. Any and all information, both in this tutorial or in future features unlocked, can be reviewed and re-read within this feature. Any specific details can be read here of any currently obtained information. This includes any relevant information related to active quests you may have learned, any factions you've encountered, or any terminology you've overheard.
This concludes the Tutorial, and you now have two new skills to help you in your growth: ID Create and ID Escape.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Skill: ID Create Lvl 1 MP cost: variable
The ability to create an instanced dungeon, or ID for short. By manipulating your MP, you can create a pocket dimension filled with creatures, unique environments, or even empty ones for training. The types of IDs you can create are dependent upon your current Skill Level. You can also create an ID by using a material as a reference for a themed dungeon, at the cost of consuming said material used to create the dungeon in question. Keep in mind that enemies can also create them or even hijack control over your own ID if they are stronger than you are, effectively trapping you within them until you either manage to force your way out or defeat them to escape.
Currently Available ID List:
- Empty Training ID
- Location-based Themed ID
- Material-based Themed ID
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Skill: ID Escape Lvl 1 MP cost: variable
The ability to escape from an Instanced Dungeon or ID, whether created by yourself or another. In the event you find yourself trapped by an enemy within their own ID, you can brute force your way out with this skill, so long as their Lvl is not more than 10 higher than your own. Some stronger enemies or IDs can block this feature, however, so make sure you carefully choose your IDs to train within.
============================================================================================================
After completing the tutorial, I nodded in acknowledgement. This would be very useful for training when I get the chance to use it after school later today. The empty IDs were basically an empty Training space for uninterrupted skill or practical training. I could use it for skill or stat grinding. The location IDs basically generate a dungeon with enemies and loot drop rewards based on the location, like using ID Create in a junkyard would create a junkyard themed dungeon using robots, golems, or possibly ratment enemies to fight. The material dungeon creates a recreation of any material I used to summon it. If I used a game character doll, like say, an action figure of the main character from a video game or even a video game guide itself, I could make a dungeon themed around it. That could let me literally live the games I loved to play growing up, but I'll need to be careful which games I choose this for. Some games are fucking terrifyingly difficult, and I don't feel like dying from a bad choice, so that will be for once I have a bit more levels first.
Plans set for now, I decide to move on to the other skill book I got, eager to gain its effects. After the final window for the tutorial and its rewards closed, I immediately tried to use the second skill book, only to get an error message.
================================================================================================================
Alert: Skill Book: Abyssal Kama Sutra cannot be learned. Minimum Requirements not met.
Requires: Masturbation Lvl MAX, 20 STR, 20 AGI, 25 END, and 40 LIB
================================================================================================================
"Of course there's a minimum requirement limitation...dammit Gaia..." Grumbling at this, I can't help but wonder if she was deliberately wanting to make me max out that embarrassing skill just for her own amusement, before I think about it again. On second thought, skill books with such limitations are usually rare, powerful, or both. The higher the requirements, the better the skill usually is. And the more expensive they tend to be as well...
In that regard, it would be both understandable and reasonable. Although I can't help but question the reason Gaia keeps giving me all these lewd and sex-oriented quests and skills. Am I part of an Incubus bloodline, or is Gaia just that pent up for some sexy entertainment?
================================================================================================================
(Not quite. Your bloodline does give you a heightened libido, but it isn't demonic in nature. Quite the opposite actually, though more than that, and it would be telling.~)
================================================================================================================
I actually blinked at that. So my bloodline isn't demonic, but the opposite? A divine lineage then? But if it also gives me a heightened libido, I can only think it must have to do with a god of lust in some manner. Though somehow, I get the sneaking suspicion that's not quite the right track either and the lewd skills and quests are just Gaia's way of trying to mess with me or liven up her own entertainment...
"..."
...the fact she's not responding this time means she's either too busy to do so right now, or I'm on the right track and she doesn't want to admit I hit the nail on the head. But either way, it's still not quite enough yet to get an acknowledgement from the system for my efforts. I get the feeling somehow it may be the latter of the two reasons for her silence, for whatever reason. Regardless, whatever the truth of the matter, I'll find out with those bloodline quests when I complete them.
Not long after I come to this decision, the bus finally pulls up around the corner and stops right in front of me. Getting up and stepping through the open door and passed the 50-year-old driver whose apparently Lvl 3, I cast my gaze around while Observing everybody else my own age who was apparently Lvl 10 on average before moving to my usual spot at the back. I keep casting Observe as I pass them until I reach my seat(fun fact: Using Observe apparently only costs MP once at the target, but using it again on said target is free so long as no new information is learned, much to my pleasure at grinding the skill level up slowly and steadily through this exploit), though everyone I pass gives me certain looks. The guys effectively give me looks of indifference or jeers. The girls just give me some looks of disdain or disgust. I honestly still cannot figure out the reason why that may have happened. Maybe once I level Observe a little more I will.
After a few minutes of spamming Observe, we reach another stop and pick up a few more students, and two of them make me try to duck my head down without drawing attention to myself. It's Frank and Vanessa. Of course, the two of them sit in the seat right in front of me and don't even notice my presence as they do so. It is the only open seat after all. Looking at the two of them, I hit them both with Observe as well while remembering the two banes of my existence since middle school.
Frank Dickinson. He's the star quarterback and a stereotypical jock. Guy has more brawn than brains, and thinks just because he's bigger and stronger than others, that gives him the right to bully those weaker than him. Myself being his favorite target. Yet due to the fact his father is wealthy and that Ashcroft's athletics and sports teams make up the greatest percentage of it's scholarships, he's essentially untouchable and gets away with his bullying with little more than a slap on the wrist thanks to his father's generous 'donations' (read bribes) to the school faculty's sports and athletics departments. Tall, good-looking, rich, and the star quarterback of the football team. Standing at 6'4", with short combed-back dirty blonde hair, blue eyes, and a muscled build, he has the whole cliche 'All-American Dream' look, yet dumb as a fucking rock and just barely manages to keep his grades up enough to avoid getting benched, though I question the credibility of those grades. He's also a complete asshole who acts like the physical embodiment of every possible stereotype of what one thinks a typical rich jock should be.
Sitting next to him is his girlfriend, Vanessa Hawthorne. She is a dream of physical beauty with large breasts, a hair of beautiful shoulder-length blonde locks, flawless skin, and curves in all the right places, on top of being from a very wealthy family. The Hawthornes are a very well off family of business moguls. Her father in particular is a well known and savvy merchant who has built upon the family's already impressive financial empire to making them one of the wealthiest in Springfield. Vanessa herself is also the captain of the school cheer squad and is utterly ruthless when it comes to maintaining her position at the top of the pyramid of the school's social hierarchy.
So she and Frank naturally run in similar circles through their respective families, thus no surprises there when the two ended up as an item. The girl however, for whatever reason, is a complete and utter bitch towards me for reasons I have yet to figure out. Unlike Frank who at least has a reason to hate me for standing up to him back in middle school, as far as I am aware, Vanessa should not have any excuse to dislike me as much as she does.
================================================================================================================
Skill Observe has reached Lvl 3
You may now view the target's basic background info and even their REP with you to determine their thoughts and feelings towards yourself.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reputation(REP) Core System Function now unlocked
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gained New Skill: Stealth
Stealth Lvl 1/50 toggled Passive/Active skill
Reduces your presence and the amount of noise you produce to avoid enemy detection. This skill can passively reduce the amount of attention drawn to you, or be toggled on to diminish others'ability to perceive your existence. While passive your presence is (Skill Lvl x 2)% less noticeable. While active your enemies become (Skill Lvl x 2)% less likely to perceive your existence and any attacks do (Skill Lvl x 2)% more chance of inflicting critical hits. Perceptive enemies may be able to see through stealth attempts.
================================================================================================================
Well that's certainly both helpful and infuriating at once.
On the one hand, I now have a skill that would make surviving a little easier without getting caught outright. But on the other hand, the fact this skill came about from my desire to avoid drawing Frank of all people's attention is irritating to no end. Though the upgrade to Observe is most certainly useful, though still won't make picking fights I can win any easier.
It shows what people think about me in the form of a scale next to their info just with a glance represented by a score of -200 with a red frowning face to a score of 200 with a green smiling face, and yellow or grey faces of anything other in between representing neutral individuals. This'll make getting closer to girls a little easier for those quests...hang on...
Taking a closer look around, I notice everyone on this bus is in the negatives. And not just by a little. They are all in the -50 to -150 range. Frank's REP score is -178. Vanessa herself is a flat -140 score! Just what the fuck?! How do I have a score that bad with everybody?! I didn't even know most of their names before today! And what's with Vanessa? Why is her score so bad?! Using my newly upgraded Observe, I find even more questions than answers with what I learn...
================================================================================================================
Vanessa Hawthorne
Lvl 13 Cheer Captain
Bitch Queen
18 Years Old
REP: -140
Thoughts about you: Absolutely finds you disgusting and pathetic. Heard from Frank you have a tiny dick and are an impotent and degenerate masochistic pervert, and spread this information as rumors to ruin your reputation and keep any girls from dating you. A sadistic bitch who believes in dominating men as a way to stake her claim over them.
Kinks: Domination(G), BDSM, Edging(G), Orgasm Denial(G), Chastity Cages(G)
================================================================================================================
...this....THAT'S why I can't get a girlfriend?! She's the one who spread those rumors?! And all because FRANK told her?! That guy was always showing off his erect dick in the locker room to everybody whether we wanted to see it or not, and while I was small back then, I'm not so much now. Oh, I am SO going to hate-fuck the ever-living shit out of her should I ever get the chance. And Frank? I will absolutely make him regret this latest and greatest indignity! One day. Soon. All I need is to bide my time until I can make a move without getting my ass kicked and can fight back without Frank crying for daddy to save him and receiving yet another slap on the wrist.
================================================================================================================
New Quest: Bully Beatdown! Revenge of the Nerd!
