Chapter 75

TheUnfathomable
Okay then... now what is it?
Something Nigh Indestructible
I watched as my power surged within my new champion, shining like some form of device within the center of its chest. Soon after, the light began to extend and flow throughout its form as if pumped along veins, bringing movement and life where it went.
As the monstrosity before me was slowly brought to life, I took my time to examine it. Its basic shape was humanoid, though I doubt I could ever get it to pass off as a human. In its current slouched stance, it stood at least 7 feet tall. It wasn't stretched like some Slenderman either, it looked as if you had taken a man and just scaled him up.
His appearance aside from that partially resembled my true form. He was nearly entirely built of high-density muscle, only occasionally interrupted by a heavy bone plate that served as reinforcing for armor. One key difference between us however, was the shear muscle mass of this beast before me. While I looked deceptively skinny, he had a shape that could win Mr. Universe with little competition.
His face was another matter entirely. He had no checks, his jagged and sometimes crooked teeth visible until they stopped at his jaw. One of the aforementioned bone plates covered one of his eyes, leaving him with a somewhat lopsided appearance. Within his maw was a tongue that seemed almost like a skewer with a reinforced tip at the end and a lot of length to spare.
His arms embraced the unsymmetrical nature of his entire form, being quite different in design. His left arm was much more armored, and his hand was thick and muscled. His right arm, on the other hand, was covered in bone spikes that stuck painfully through his flesh, ending in a boney, clawed hand.
As at last the power began to rest within his skin, the HUD appeared before me.
Champion Creation
You have created a champion species for the first time, please choose one of the following traits to give this champion line.
Syphon, Regeneration, God's Eye, Polymorph, Corruption
Looking across my options, I was surprised to find that my boons from that rather annoying femboy-ish angel were available to grant. However, they were most certainly not what I needed from this guy. What I needed was a villain to keep people off of me for the foreseeable future, and that meant they needed to have high survivability. That in mind, I chose Regeneration.
As I did so, two windows appeared in front of me:
Champion Creation
Due to the Rite used having the [Empower] keyword, the Champion's Regeneration ability shall be evolved.
Reanimating Regeneration (passive) (life) (active): will regain health over time based on magic attack every second, at no mana cost. If the user dies, this ability will activate once the body has been undisturbed for an amount of time dependent on magic defense. Once active, the user's body will begin to regenerate until they are fully repaired, and then will be reanimated. (This ability will be unable to reanimate the user if they have been completely destroyed, had their soul destroyed, or if there is not sufficient space to regenerate vital organs.)
Looking at the second window with the ability, my jaw dropped. 'Well, I wanted something that would not die anytime soon, and now I don't have to worry about him dying anyway. I wonder if I can find a way to evolve my regeneration, because that would be very nice to have. Then again, I don't want to be in a situation where I die in the first place...'
I was shaken out of my thoughts as the entity before me shuddered slightly. There was a creaking and some popping as my new champion slowly stood straight, getting into a stance that was uncannily still. It stretched itself, popping its neck and shoulders before at last locking its eye upon me.
It spoke in a voice that was paradoxically calm, yet sounded near like a growl. "My Lord." It proceeded to smoothly shift itself into a kneeled position, somewhat clunking down onto its knee due to its great weight. It lowered its head before it spoke again, once more keeping its sentence short, "Your Orders?"
I considered for a moment, before I realized I was still linked to my room in the inn at the moment. "Wait here for a moment, I have to finish my preparations." He simply nodded slowly in response.
I left my domain, finding myself once again in the room at the inn. It was very well into the night now, and no light was yet showing outside. I had time before anyone would have need of me. I polymorphed back into my Matthew form incase I was seen at all so noone would panic about a monster.
This time, I could not be known to have been out, so I came out to my window and crawled out before jumping, rolling as I landed more out of habit than need, seeing as I now was many, many times more durable than any person back home.
I snuck quietly thought the back alleys and in hidden areas to avoid being seen by anyone who happened to be awake at this hour. Once I was far enough away and just outside of the city itself, I polymorphed into my true form so I could reach a much higher speed.
Once I had at last reached the forest, I moved to find a nice clearing to open a gateway in. As the great portal opened, I saw my new champion still kneeling in wait. He slowly looked up before standing and taking lumbering steps out of the gateway.
I closed it behind him, and gave him his briefing. "You, shall play the role of an antagonist. You will cause panic and damage when you can, however not enough to truly cause anything to collapse. Your main target is the forces of light, however if you notice the forces of dark making any moves, feel free to keep them in check."
He gave a growl of affirmation before asking me a question, "My Lord, have I a name?" He looked at me in a manner that didn't quite seem like it was a request, more as if it happened to be a curiosity. His empty stare selling his gruesome appearance all the more.
I considered for a moment before giving a response, "Let that be a part of your mission. Earn yourself a great title, whether it be by the names your enemies grant you, or by the one you decide will strike the most terror into them." After finishing this speech, I realized I may have forgotten something important. "Another thing, if you ever must disclose your master, refer to me only as..." I thought of a fitting name for a few seconds, "The Twisted One. It may be better if you fight on your own, but if you feel it would grant more effect to say so, that is the only title you may use. And under no circumstances identify me in any other way."
He gave a firm nod that turned partially into a bow, "Understood." His slow, growling voice made me all the more confident that he would be exactly what I needed. He could play the role of a villain to distract them all from my plans oh so perfectly.
I gave him a nod of approval before beginning my trip back to the inn. I could not risk the others waking up before I got back, for if I was gone two nights in a row there would almost definitely be questions. With my current position with the group, I could not risk any new problems arising.
#####
The Champion stood as he watched his lord leave. His purpose was clear, and it was a quite good one at that. He was aware that there were other champions that were simply used to keep maintenance over temples that near never saw any conflict, so this job was the most rewarding existence he could have ever dreamed of.
He turned and began exploring the woods, searching for the first location in which his great villainy would be revealed to Ruyanei.
Which of the two shall we follow?
