Anything else happening?
Some messages, but nothing else
Methodology itself was indeed as boring as it sounds, but at least John had some people to talk with again, now that all of the girls he had something intimate with (three girls in the span of two days, that was something he would've never thought to be real).
Brunhilde [13:20]: Fucking some ground, kinky :P Seriously though, you need to show us that new world then! Especially if it's yours. Anyway, gotta work now, catch ya later!
Showing Brun and Astrid the Nexus was high on his priority list, along with the rest of the Abyssal people that he knew so far (and actually trusted).
John [13:23]: Apparently weird kinks is something that's almost natural in the Abyss, eh? ;P Yeah sure, I'll show both of you a whole new world :D Have fun at work, I'll be busy getting some work myself.
Astrid [13:18]: Yeah... I'm interested to see what the plan here is... Mom told me what's supposed to happen now... I really hope the person that's supposed to look over me and to train me isn't too harsh... Anyway, what's happening with you? Anything interesting at school?
John [13:23]: I'm interested too to see what they have planned for you... Though I'm happy for now that the Order didn't actually take you with them... That would've been a lot worse. Yeah, seems to be quite a lot happening with me. Apparently, I have an interview today for something that's pretty much a job xD But other than that, yeah, I'm doing good.
Aranea [13:22]: Oh, I highly doubt that, boytoy :P Oooh the busy life of a busy man, if he will ever find time for little 'ol me? What are your plans on Sunday, then? Going to church with family?
John [13:24]: I'll check next time then ;P Uuh Sunday sounds fine, should be able to meet up then. Depends on what my work conditions will be today xD
John was a bit more doubtful about getting that job than he had let on in the texts. Deciding to use his new-found resources, he looked into the Abyss Auction to see what kind of info they had on the Fateweavers.
There was a huge market for information brokering, so John found some different 'information packages' on the Fateweavers there. Most of them seemed to be about specific individuals inside the organization, with only a handful giving info about the actual group.
In the market was a 'Fateweavers for Dummies' package priced at 'only' $3,000 with the description that it would give the basic overview of the organization and its basic structure. Now, most of the time he would think twice about buying this with that kind of price, but he was of the mindset that preparation was extremely important, so he bought that info package to gain as much information about them as he could, and received a document file in a private folder in his AA account.
The document told him a lot of things that he hadn't know before, so it was probably worth the price, even if that was all of his new member credit and $500 from his inventory, mysteriously deducted without any interaction with him.
Thankfully, the document didn't have many technical terms in it, and the ones that were in it were explained pretty well. The Fateweavers were founded at an unknown date after an internal conflict inside the preceding, and by now disbanded, organization called the 'Illusion Protectors'. A more liberal group inside the Protectors wanted to expand the influence and services of the organization but were denied by the more conservative leadership due to traditions and a vow of neutrality. The Fateweaver organization has kept that vow in its founding, stating clearly that they will always stay neutral as an organization and will not be swayed to a side, they will, however, be reacting to outside threats and threats on their structure as an organization. This vow is, however, not directly bound to every member (or employer) of the organization, as long as they keep up a professional reason for it.
They are one of the three largest neutral parties in the global Abyss, together with the Apothecaries and the Abyss Auction. Noone can really say who is more influential between the Auction and the Fateweavers due to their close ties and cooperation. The Apothecaries, while a bit more detached from the two, were highly vital to the survival of the Abyss and drew their power from that fact. There were other smaller neutral parties, but one by one they began to either be integrated into the other bigger parties or were disbanded for various reasons. Or, the most common reason, they were pulled to a certain side.
The Fateweavers are a large organization dealing on a global scale. Noone outside of the organization (and few people inside it) know where the headquarters of the Fateweavers is, but there are major branches in big cities on all the continents, namely New York, Paris, Hong-Kong, and Capetown, Tokio and other metropolises. The number of members and employees of the organization are kept locked away from most eyes, but estimates would put the number of active members around 70,000 people, both human and non-human.
The insides of the Fateweaver structure are kept very much secretive, but there are some things that are known: There are branches that directly deal with the public and with customers, and there are internal branches that very few outsiders are knowledgeable about. The outside branches mostly deal with PR, HR and the normal businesses of a company, and there are employees sent to customers to help them with their wishes. Problems dealt with by the Fateweavers include things like Barrier Creation, Barrier maintenance and other things detailing Barriers. There are also public projects of the Fateweavers like long-distance travel tunnels and public neutral spaces.
There is a lot of secrecy around the Fateweavers, which makes a lot of people anxious. The employees and members of the organization are non-reliant regarding information, as they all seem to tell half-truths and flat-out lies, either with their knowledge or without it. They are also protected by various spells apparently, as the capture of Fateweaver agents has been futile up until now. Putting spies into the organization seemed to be just as futile as they were highly susceptible to any form of surveillance from outside.
All in all, the Fateweavers were a bundle of mystery that presents itself as an upfront company providing services to paying customers. The document also told John where all of the known Fateweaver outposts were, at least in which cities, as exact addresses seemed to be a mystery as well in most cases. He noticed that in the immediate area, Springfield was the only town with an outpost. This confused John. What made Springfield this special? There seemed to be many different parties running around in a back-ass town like this one, but in the neighboring towns, which were of a similar scale, there was apparently less activity. Something was not right here, and John put that mystery on his growing list of things that he had no answer for yet.
As he reached the chapter about 'dress code' he decided to call it quits for this time, especially because the bell also rang and he was sure he would have no time to read in the next period. James had already left the classroom as John packed his things, seemingly in a hurry. John shrugged it off and just went his way to the place that he would rather avoid up until three days ago.
To the workshop!
What does the workshop bring?
