Some last minute encouragement

“Why not from tomorrow?”

“But we just moved to our new home and everything is a mess right now. Can I get some time to arrange everything?”

“I’m sorry Momee. But you have to cum from tomorrow. There is a lot of work here. And I need you with me. Your husband is at home right? Just tell him to arrange everything.”

“But he is my husband. It’s not proper for a male to do the housework.”

“Who told you that?”

“My family told me that and to always respect my husband.”

“I’m not asking you to dis-respect him. It’s just that in Australia we believe that the head of the family is the one, who is earning the most. As you are going to live in Australia you should also respect our custom. You are the only one earning for your family, so you are the head of your family. And the head of a family should not do any household work. Is that clear?”

“Yes Ron. As I’m am the only earning person I should be the head of house and Sonnet should do all the household work. I hope I can make him understand that.”

“Don’t bother explaining anything to him. It is for you he is able to come to Australia. If he doesn’t like that and respect your decision, he is free to go back to Bangladesh. You don’t even love him.”

“Yes. You are right. It’s my decision.”

“And don’t tell anything about the office policy. It’s confidential information. I can take legal action against you if Sonnet somehow learns about the HR policy OK.”

“Ok Ron. Don’t worry I won’t tell him about the office policy. But he is my husband and he may want to hug me or have sexual intercourse, what should I tell him to stop?”

“Just tell him that even though you two are married, you don’t love him and isn’t willing to act as husband and wife till you feel comfortable. Tell him that you need space. You were not prepared for this marriage and you need time to accept him as your husband. It’s your life Momee. Live as you like.”

“You are right Ron. All my life everyone told me what to do and everything. But you are the first one who is showing me that I can be my own person. Thank you Ron for your support. I feel much confident now.”

“Good. Go girl. Show your power.”

“Goodbye Ron. See you tomorrow.”

“Goodbye Momee.”

With a bright smile and full of confidence Momee exited the office. Ron just fell down his seat and started laughing thinking about the naïve girl. He can’t believe an adult can be this dumb. Thanking his lucky stars Ron started to do his daily works.
