The truth of the matter is exactly what Big Mac fears, Miss Cheerilee IS barren: in point of fact, she has no uterus at all.

When Miss Cheerilee was a baby she was involved in an industrial accident in Manehattan, struck by flying shrapnel from an exploding boiler in the factory her mother was touring with her father. Though the doctors at Princess Celestia Hospital were able to save her life the redhot shard of boiler had gotten lodged in her uterus, and they were **** to surgically remove it in order to stop the bleeding. The external scars had healed completely by the time she was old enough to be conscious of her body thanks to extensive magical treatments, and her parents never told her about the accident, having no idea she would fall in love with a man that could only marry her if she were able to get pregnant. These two star crossed lovers are doomed to grow old and die without a foal, unless there is a miracle or they learn the truth and adopt.

But right now neither of them know that, and poor mutilated Miss Cheerilee, who's special talent of teaching is a response to her unfulfilled and unfulfillable maternal drive, is lying on her back in the middle of an apple orchard praying that THIS time she will catch, THIS time they will be able to tell Big Mac's family at last: a prayer that is almost certain to go unanswered...
