What's next?

Some healing

Twenty nine minutes later she was waiting for him, by the doors, dressed up in the best outfit she had. The one that made such a huge impression on him when they went shopping for the first time.

Andreas barely batted an eye. He looked normally again, managed to get his hair to stay in some kind of order and shaved.

"Illy?"

"She has stomach issues." The Lamia explained. "It will be just the two of us... And don't worry, I told her to call us if she has problems with anything."

"You can't fix those with magic?" He asked surprised.

"No. Illy is... I don't know how to explain it. Let's just say she is allergic to spells that would positively affect her body." The Lamia was having troubles how to explain Illy's situation, luckily Andreas didn't press or ask any further questions.

He just nodded, grabbed his cane, and they went out. The town hall building was like three miles away, and they could technically call a cab, but he didn't feel like having a repeat of the Uber driver situation, so he opted for a long, painful walk.

On the way they didn't speak much. Sally tried to spark up the conversation a few times, but Andreas seemed too lost in his own thoughts to respond. As usual, they garnered attention of the locals on the way, but neither of them cared.

After the first mile the pain in his leg began to be a huge nuisance. After the second - he could barely move forward.

"Wait a moment..."

He said, while trying to lean on the wall.

"Are you okay?"

"No." Andreas responded, and then added: "Give me a minute."

Voigt tried to massage the area above the knee to perhaps relieve some of the pain. It didn't work.

"It's the leg."

"Of course it's the leg, it's not like I'm having a stroke." He responded, annoyed.

"Did you bring your pain killers with you?" She asked, genuinely concerned.

"No. I stopped taking them."

The Lamia was about to ask why, but she knew the answer.

"I... I can make it better. With magic."

Andreas didn't answer, instead just sat next to the wall, and let his leg rest.

"I see that you are in pain, and it hurts me to see you like that because I... I care about you. Let me help."

No reaction.

"Please. Just... Let me do something!"

Again, no reaction. But he felt like his will was weakening. Or perhaps it was him being close to pass out because of the pain.

"Please, Andreas!"

He closed his eyes. The pain didn't let him focus on anything. He wished it was gone.

"Do what you want."

He grumbled.

A wide smile appeared on Sally's face, which was then replaced by an expression of focus fueled determination. She began to do gestures in the air, swinging her hands like she was gathering something and putting it in front of her, without a care in the world about spectators. She began to chant something, and the whispers appeared all around her, talking, swaying, spinning, being everywhere. The Lamia put all she had into the spell.

And then it appeared on her hand. A constantly moving ball of light the size of a tennis ball.

She bent towards Andreas, lining up her face and hand towards his knee, and then blew it at him.

The ball of light gently flew towards him, and started to touch and envelop the pain emanating areas, filling them with warmth and numbness. The pain was going away almost instantly and in just a few seconds, Andreas didn't feel like he was going to pass out from it anymore. He stopped gritting his teeth, and relaxed his muscles.

It still felt weird to him, but at least the pain went away.

"Thank you." He said, and then tried to get up.

The Lamia extended her hand to ho him with that, and he actually accepted it. She tried to hide her smile, but it was impossible for her to suppress a big, full of happiness grin that arrived on her face.
