Sage pays for tutors when your mom struggles through high school. When your mom breaks her first bike, Sage buys her a new one the next day. When your grandparents need a date night, Sage babysits your mother herself. The two get close. So close in fact, that in her teenage years, Sage is always the first number your mom calls when she does something stupid, not your grandmother. Sage spoils her and through that, your mom has a positive lesbian role model. Your mom's idea of a self-made woman with success and money is a sex-positive, polyamorous lesbian retired sex worker still playing the dating game in her 40s. That'll get her off your back for not having a serious boyfriend at 19. Sage introduced your mom to a lot of her dates and friends, showing her the gamut of good queer role models.
