Sneaking into his house

" What if there is something in his house ? " Triss looked at Corinne after minutes of silence.

" Like what ? "

" Evidence of some kind or maybe some important papers that the King of Beggars could use to do some harm to him, I don't know. I just don't like the idea of just going back and trying to fight our way to free the girls, even with magic. "

" Yes, even the guards would notice and then witch hunters. He probably also has them in his pocket. "

Triss rubbed her face with her hands before standing up and walking to the window.

" I'll sneak into his house. He must have a study or something where he keeps his papers and then we could maybe do something with it. Or at least weaken him somehow so that we could go in and free them. "

" You want to sneak into his house alone ? What if he'll catch you ? "

" We must help them Corinne. And if there will be a chance to kill him I will do it. That will make things much easier. "

They waited together in the room, spending time talking and calming each other down as Triss had to prepare for a very difficult mission. If she is caught or makes a mistake, there probably won't be a way to escape this time. It will have to be perfect and precise. And there is also no certainty that she will find anything. They just have to hope.

With the sun going down, the city of Novigrad gets slowly into a state of complete darkness with the exceptions of torchlight. Triss learned how to navigate the city during night time. She knew how to avoid guards and other dangerous people who prayed in the alleys. She crossed the bridge as did many other people who went to pray to the eternal fire but she turned left and continued to the estate of the Daevon family. As she got closer she noticed a window that was very slightly opened but it was the highest one on the building. With such luck, the small bead of hope turned bigger as it was the perfect way to get inside. Triss looked around and noticed a ladder that was leaning in the opposite alley against one of the buildings. She made sure that no one would see her and then with a bit of magic moved the ladder where she needed it.

" Yes ! " Triss clenched her fist in celebration as the ladder was just big enough to get her inside. But the hardest part of the night was right in front of her. The lion's den, one might say. She exhaled and began climbing the ladder. She started hearing some noise above her and with every step, they were only louder and louder.
