What's next?
Sleepless
Wendell was up and watching the small tv on his desk in his dorm. After he and Guy had parted ways, he couldn't sleep. What Guy said had started to bother him. Things had gotten complicated. The tv pattered softly in the background as Wendell looked up at the ceiling. He hadn't thought much about feelings in this whole mess.
It felt so right being on top of him when he was a woman, but it got weird after. Maybe involving him was a bad idea.
Wendell's eyes wandered and he traced a crack in the gypsum.
Maybe I should just walk away from this...
The crack branched and forked. There was even a chip out of one side.
Could I really though? Probably not... It's just sex, right? It doesn't mean anything by itself.
The crack terminated into the flat white paint.
Why did it really matter that it was him underneath, then? Am I just getting back at him, or is it something more?
The colors from the changing tv screen splashed over the flat paint.
Why am I bothering? I'll figure it out tomorrow.
Wendell rolled over and looked to the tv. A lame infomercial played out. It was an absurdly long advertisement for what was essentially an oversized blender. After that, the news came on. He ingnored it in a haze mostly, but when a face came up he focused on it very intently. A clear mugshot was being shown of the bearded man that had sold him the ray. The newcaster's voice came into focus.
"-found shot dead in his Sommerland home, last night. The latest in a string of shootings tha-"
Wendell rolled his legs over the edge of the bed, and leaned in closer to the tiny screen.
It's just a coincidence, right?
