Skull Taker Ruven, a sword in the wildlands
Ruven! Shadow-slayer, Skull-Taker! In those ancient days when he walked the lands, did many not come to know of his strength? Black-haired and steel-eyed, broad-shouldered and grim, he rode and stalked through the many lands on endless quests for glory, for riches, and for his own strange peace. They said many things about him - that he was the child of a god or a demon, that he was a beast in the field and in bed, that he had wandered the length of the ancient lands and spoken to all their peoples. There was a restlessness in him impossible to satisfy. With his perilous blade and his mighty thews, he hacked his way through foes that would fell a lesser man - though he himself was brought low on more than one occasion. Still, there are few men of that era, faded and forgotten, whose names the bards still sing.
Of Ruven the Skull Taker I have heard many songs.
