For speeches, he sits in the student body so that he can see everything from the audience perspective, to help him give better feedback on how to improve the speaker's form.

Anna and Claire take their seats, Anna feeling the heat build again in her crotch from all of the eyes on her body. Out of the corner of her eye, Anna can see Claire squirming in her seat. Student after student gets called up to do their presentation, getting praise and criticism from Mr Hanson. To his credit, he does want nothing more than to help his students do the best they can speaking in public. Anna wonders if he has ever had a student do their speech naked before.
