Sidequest

Eventually the stumbled upon the Laughing Gryphon Inn. Pete stepped inside and found a nearly empty room. There were a few people nursing drinks at the bar but otherwise it was pretty barren.

He walked up to the bar and a woman came to greet them, "Hello welcome to the Laughing Gryphon. I'm Elara, the proprietor. What can I get for you?"

"Well we'd like a room..."

"Two!" Kelly said immediately.

Pete shook his head, "Sorry...two rooms. For the night."

Eleara smiled, "Well you are in luck I have exactly two rooms left. 5 gold each, and that includes dinner and breakfast."

Pete nodded, "Sure. We'll take them," he looked around, "Is it always this quiet here? We were hoping to get some information."

"You're just early. Come back in a few hours and it will be totally full. Most of my customers are still out in the fields. What sort of information are you looking for?"

"Our friend was taken by a demoness. Vilithra. We need to find her." Pete explained.

Eleara clutched a pendant hanging from her neck, "You'd best just forget about her. And don't be harassing my customers with that talk. If you do, I'll have to ask you to leave. Understood?" Pete nodded, that didn't go as planned, "Good. Now here." She passed two him keys, "Room 7 and 11. Upstairs. Half now half tomorrow." He took the keys and passed her 5 gold.

"Thanks," he gave one key to Kelly, "Here's yours. Well what should we do now? Maybe get some better equipment?"

Kelly grunted, "Like I can. This weapon looks awesome and I can't wear armor. I'm going to my room." She stormed off without another word.

Tiffany smiled at him, "Let's split up Master. I'll try to use my seduce skill to ask the men, it will work better if you aren't beside me. You go look for supplies. Kelly has a weapon and Leanne has magic, but you and I probably need something too. Oh, leave me a little money, just in case."

"Good idea. Meet back here after dark?" She nodded. Pete gave her some money and the split up.

Pete wandered around until a sign caught his eye. Arcane Antics. Well, he could cast magic right, maybe it would be useful. He went inside and looked around.

The store was rather small, as the shopkeeper kept the spells in the back and only had pages describing the effects up front. It seemed like it was mostly gag spells. Summon Rubber Chicken. Create Confetti. Power Word: Sneeze. Then he saw one called Summon Familiar. It made him think of how quiet it had been since they came here. Gideon was asleep or maybe just unable to communicate in this realm.

"How much for summon familiar?" He asked.

"Oh 1000 gold." The shopkeeper replied.

Pete started at her, what? That seemed ridiculous. He decided to try casting Charm and trying again. Again he instinctively knew how to do it. He felt the magic work and she smiled at him. "Sorry how much was it?"

"1000 gold," she replied, "But I could make an exception for you..."

"Great, so how much?" Pete asked.

"Free...if you do a tiny little favor for me." She grinned. "Across the street is a shop called Gizmo's. Run by a dear friend of mine, Tessa. Well you see last week I caught her fucking my boyfriend. I've already dealt with him, but she's far too suspicious of me to let me get close. There's a spell I have in mind but I need something of hers. Her panties. Just get me her panties and you can have the spell."

"Her panties...wow. How am I supposed to do that?" Pete asked.

She laughed, "Well she's a slut that likes to sleep with her friends boyfriends so you could try to seduce her....or you could repeat your trick from earlier. I was in the town square earlier, don't try to deny it."

Looks like she had him. Even if he gave up on this quest she could report him to the magistrate...fuck. "Fine. I'll be back soon."

Pete left and walked across the street. He opened the door only to be greeted by a rifle pointed at his face. He froze and put his hands up. He finally looked past the gun to see the woman holding it. She was short. Very short. If this was a fantasy game he'd have to say she was a gnome. Or a half long? He wasn't sure.

"She sent you. Didn't she? Why are you here?" The woman, presumably Tessa, asked.

"I'm just looking for stuff." From her pocket a buzzer sounded.

"Ha! A lie. Try again." Shit, did she have some sort of lie detector?

"Ok she sent me." No buzz.

"What does she want?" Tessa asked.

"****." Pete said, trying to stall. She was having none of it. She pushed the gun closer to him. "Fine. She wants me to steal your panties."

Suddenly she pulled the gun back and set it aside, "Yes. I thought she might go that route. Well come inside. Let's talk. Oh and don't bother stealing and running. I don't wear panties."
