Chapter 69 by Funatic Funatic

Afterwards?

Side Story: Advanced Transmutation

„Oh, lords and ladies below why.“ Uklag says and tiredly stumbles into the enchantment quarter. Inside a waiting Catherine closes the bock she was reading with a loud clapping noise and raises an eyebrow. “What’s wrong?” She asks as he leans on one of the many tables. “Okay, first I gave An her reward, it was more of a cuddle session than what I had expected, but fine I am flexible whatever, then I punished Al, that I greatly enjoyed although she wiggled her way out in the end but that one is on me anyway. Sadly however the two then double teamed me with the words, ‘We didn’t have you for a month, let us blow you.’ Of course I couldn’t say no to that.”

Uklag with his wooden staff in an overly dramatic motion. “Two hours later and I can barely feel my legs. Why do they have to be that sexy? I mean I wanted to fuck someone else today, namely you, but now my balls are as drained as the east wood oasis after a sandstorm.” Catherine nods understandingly and sighs, “Meaning that I have to get my kicks another way today, huh? Well, I will just visit Alratha later then.” “The two of you are hanging out now?” Uklag asks in a mildly surprised tone, Catherine smiles. “Her, me and Celine. Well, Celine used to but she is what, six months pregnant now? She prefers to get dicked instead, luckily for her, Droy doesn’t get sucked dry on the regular.”

Uklag shrugs apologetically. “Seems that I will have to quench your thirst for knowledge instead then. I think you are ready for advanced transmutation. Of course it is also a rather short subject.” Catherine’s eyes glitter with anticipation as she walks over to the table Uklag is leaning on.

“Transmutation, unlike other schools, doesn’t have any real techniques for advanced mages of the craft. This comes from the simple truth that Transmutation is very easy in its nature, recreating one thing as another, but rather hard in practice. The abilities a mage has to train to master Transmutation are willpower, concentration and creativity foremost. Afterwards it is very important to know about the material you are working with and the material you want to create. Several works of art never saw the light of day because the mage that created them created a local storm after transferring too much of stone into air, blasting himself into the air causing him to have a rather violent crash. That is why I had you create by hand a lot, knowing materials is very important.

However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t advanced teachings. Transmutation follows two advanced schools, the one following Heljertzekos, a male mage of Carthabathena, who perfected Inorganic transmutation and that of Aclysia, who I am sure you are familiar with, who perfected organic transmutation. As you can guess Inorganic Transmutation is much widespread and practiced, after all people who mainly practice the organic school are usually frowned upon.

As such, it comes to little wonder that Heljertzekos School, although his name is erased from most modern records, still has many followers, although his life dates back several millennia when compared to Aclysia, who lived roughly 300 years back, who is called a witch and whose records are actively burned whenever found.

Of course after Organic and Inorganic there are also sub schools, like soul transmutation, or specializations like metal transmutation. However, these are very specific and I want to keep my teaching broad for the moment.

I personally, as much as I revere Aclysia, am a practiser of Inorganic Transmutation. Meaning that is specialise in converting materials from one state into another with the highest amount of precision possible. To this discipline counts a lot of mental schooling and mathematics I won’t bore you with for the moment, but suffice it to say that you need to roughly estimate the density of your target before converting it.

This helps a lot when you want to transmute large complexes, like this base, and it also trains your mind to stay on the task. Furthermore specializing in this makes enchantments much more easier.

Organic Transmutation has it’s uses too, you can create new lifeforms or change existing ones. Higher practisers even can manipulate souls without harming bodies. Aclysia herself was said to be able to rip out whole souls and put them into new bodies. Organic transmutation however also comes with a few rules one should keep.

First, never heal complicated wounds, Second, don’t try to make things younger, Third, don’t transmute with demon essence. I, of course, tend to break the third and with the ritual the twins have given me it should be theoretical possible but otherwise one should never break those.”

Catherine raises an eyebrow. “This explains why you only lightly healed your wound but I don’t really understand why.” Uklag makes a grim expression. “Because of the Transmutation Disease.” He says “No one ever understood why but if you transmute a body, even if you do it perfectly, sooner or later lumps of flesh will form inside the body and start to spread through the person. These lumps will start to eat away at your soul in a very painful matter and finally kill you. The dears I created back in the day should all be dead by now. Truth be told I took a risk by even lightly healing my own wound but I figured that I did not want to bleed to **** or present to tempting a target for that barbarian. Not that it will matter much though, I should be one with the Demonlord before it can break out in case I fucked up.”

Catherine nods a few times. “Does this disease have a name?” she asks, “Many, Goddess Curse is a widespread one, because it befalls those that tarnish their creations with magic. Others are Krabeh, Murkflesh or Soulfeast. I personally prefer the term of Aclysia, she called it ‘Nuish’ after the first syllables of nuisance.”

Uklag pulls a thin book from his robe. “And now for the boring part. This is a catalogue of runes for different material. Let’s go through it.”
