Shuichi Saihara, the Ultimate Detective, walked into his dorm room at Hope’s Peak Academy, absolutely exhausted. He liked being here, don’t get it wrong. Most people wouldn’t have a problem with being at the most prestigious school in the world, and Shuichi wasn’t much different. However, he was starting to get annoyed by all the eccentric personalities that roamed the halls and made it hard to enjoy his day. From the pathological liar Kokichi Ouma who made it difficult to understand a simple point, to the horny and arrogant Miu Iruma who couldn’t stop insulting everyone if it saved her life. Even people from other classes were getting on Shuichi’s nerves, like the perverted Teruteru or snooty Byakuya. But Shuichi could deal with them at the end of the day. It’d just be easier if he didn’t have to.
But whatever. He couldn’t change much, he was a detective and not a behavioral therapist or something, after all. So, he hung his hat by the frame of his bed frame. But something caught his eye: a stack of pink papers with a note on top. He definitely didn’t put these here, and absolutely didn’t let someone else into his room. Being the detective he is, he was curious and read the note.
The note stated that these were magic demotion/promotion slips that could be given to anyone. It says that in order to work, Shuichi would need to put the persons name, whether it was a promotion or demotion, what position they were being changed to, and why, then given to the person. The note specified that the change can be to anything that a person could be, and not just plain jobs. It also says that the reason for promotion/demotion doesn’t have to actually apply, and it gives the example of a dumb person being promoted because of how intelligent they are. The final things the note touches on is that the person who gives them away is now seen as normally giving the slips to people, and that the slips won’t work on someone who is under the age of 18 can’t be given a promotion/demotion.
Shuichi had… let’s just say a lot of questions. Was the note serious? No way, right? A magic demotion slip that could be given to people without jobs? This had to be some kind of prank, no doubt. But then, how did they get into his room? So, Shuichi decided to run a test. On the first note of the stack, he wrote the name Miu Iruma. He wrote a D for demotion, followed by a new role: silent student. Finally, the reason was written as “aggressive language and complaints on behavior.” Taking it from the stack, he went into the currently empty halls and slid the note under Miu’s door, before going back to his own dorm. Shuichi had next to no hope for it to work, but if it did, at least Miu would be quiet for a while. Finally, Shuichi got into bed and went to sleep, his mind still riddled with questions towards the slips of pink paper.
