Shopping Trips Part 2

"Another day, another shopping trip! Anna with four BP to your name, what are you grabbing?"

"So I corrected my math from last week. If I pray in the morning, Gabe can assign that point to Strength, which will make me strong enough to be able to wear heavy armor. But I'm keeping the medium armor, just in case. I had a gold... I mean BP refunded to me last week for the mistake. So, after buying the heavy armor, I'm left with two. I can't wield a weapon, and I still have an open accessory slot. Accessories are a little pricey, so I think I'm going to save up, and wait for the next time we get money."

"Do you have your eyes on anything?"

"You mean other than the holy anal beads? No not yet, but I've got my eyes open."

"Fantastic! So you survived your first challenge, with less than stellar results. How are you feeling?"

"I mean, it sucks. The first match is a one on one fight and Gabe picks me as a healer. I mean he really doesn't know me, if that's what he picked, but whatever. I'm kind of pissed. Jasmine and Daisy both have huge advantages over us now. Advancing two levels past us, is only going to make it easer for them to out perform us in the future. I'm not giving up, but I'm already a little scared of where this is going."

"Well, that's exciting!"

"What the hell was that? I was attacked! Daisy was touching me! I need Anna!"

"Calm yourself, princess, she's only a goblin, calm yourself. Gabe will deal with the attack when you return to the throne room."

"She's just... a goblin... it doesn't count... Gabe will..."

"There, that's a nice smile. We like thinking about the Prince don't we?"

"Mmm."

"Now Lanna I saw you and Vera being naughty girls last night and dipping into the party loot. What hast thou betrayal afforded you?"

"Oh... sorry I spaced out there. Um... well as you know I was saving up from last week. And last night Vera and I split that 5 extra points. So I was up to 10BP. Spent it all, no regrets."

"What did you get?"

"A southern specialty. Some well-placed ribbons, many of our warriors use these. They make our bodies too beautiful for admiring eyes to harm. We add our Charisma to AC rather than dex. Not too bad."

"That's great for you, now your will saves, and defense is based off Charisma. Things are landing very nicely for you my dear."

"Thank you. The other big item I got was a pair of dancing shoes. They increase my dex, which you know I still need for dex saves, and stuff. But the real reason I got them is their special ability. They let me extend a song by one turn, if I use a dance the following turn!"

"Explain that for the audience."

"Bards have buffs that last for one turn when cast. These buffs are either songs, dances, or both. If I sing a song on on turn one, one turn two, I can perform a dance, and extend the song over into that turn as well, thus having two buffs active at once!"

"So you're hoping you'll get another buff for your next advance."

"Hey now, the south is home to the greatest dancers in Coloradia! I'll have you know that Inspire Courage can be a song and dance, which means I can use it as both slots."

"You noticed that, huh?"

"Sure did."

"Great work Lanna, you're shaping up to be a fine unit."

"Thank you."

"So you finished in the middle of the pack yesterday, how are you feeling about your chances so far?"

"Oh gosh I don't know. It's too early to say. He said he wanted me yesterday, but I'm just so sick about the idea. Well part of me is. Another part feels like a hungry tiger who just wants to get out there and seduce a man. And it's like... I know I can do it, too. I just have Annie in my way... that came out wrong."

"It's okay, we get it. You're being loyal to your sister."

"Hey there Jasmine, pick up any new tricks for the next round?"

"Believe me, I'd love to be rocking that Giant Slayer right now, but this shield is too heavy man."

"Worth is though, right?"

"I was blown away by how good it was yesterday. Next level I get to add to strength, so you can bet I'm picking up a weapon then. But yeah, I'm having a hard time seeing how I'm going to get rid of the shield. I mean, turn one, damage, free action to grab, and which destroys their AC? I don't see how anyone can beat it."

"Any potions or trinkets?"

"There is some interesting stuff in there, but I think I'm just going to save up, and see what happens. Not to be cocky but if I win again, I unlock the next level of items. Sounds expensive."

"It does indeed. Okay, no shopping from you this week, a privilege bestowed upon those who wield a legendary weapon. Your night with the prince was yesterday, how was it?"

"Ha! Magical, and frustrating all at once. The boy's got a talent for that. But I think we landed in a good space. I think I convinced him to take this all a little more seriously. I told him that he's a leader, and needs to start treating that with the weight that we deserve."

"It sounds like that was a good talk for him to hear."

"I hope he heard it. I'm not great at this leading stuff. I'm a soldier, just point me and go. So it's kind of scary for me to think that the guy leading all of this isn't cut out for it. I never doubted my sister when she was in command."

"So tell me about the magical parts."

"Oh, well that part's hard to explain."

"You're blushing."

"Well we had sex, first off. So giggle about that all you want. It was unlike anything I've ever had. He was just there to please me, and it felt really special. He's voting me as his favorite, I won the challenge, I feel like there might be something here."

"We can't let you go without asking what you think about his sealing away your human memories."

"I think he should do it with the others too. This relationship goes both ways, and from what I can gather everyone's human memories are interfering with them. We've got to know that he's got our back, but the same goes for us. I was calling him out in public, making him look weak, saying I wouldn't let him touch the other girls in his own harem, I'm honestly really impressed that he made the call. Of course he was whining and apologizing for it all night, but it was a step in the right direction."

"Vera you've broken the trust of your love, what are you going to do to repair thy broken covenant?"

"His rules said don't hurt anyone in the harem, and I didn't. So I'm fine. Besides he broke my trust confessing his love to Lanna, and Jasmine I'm sure."

"Come now, you're all to be his harem. You can't fault him for tending to it."

"Maybe I can be. Maybe I wanted to leave behind the life of being just one out of a crowd of women screaming for some man in the spotlight. Maybe I wanted somebody to love me."

"Okay, I got a suit of Dwarven Plate, same protection as my old Armor, but only weighs 1 on me. Now that I'm not so weighed down by my armor, I can carry a shield, and not just any shield!

"Thanks, I'm not sure how much it will help. They're just going to target my will anyway..."

"Don't be down on yourselves. Many of the threats you'll be facing on the quest are monsters who have no idea what your stats are. It's not like they'll be picking you off individually. A sturdy, tanky dwarf is going to have lots of uses."

"Wow I... I never thought I'd feel better after a conversation with you."

"Out of all the party members, I would say you have the most to prove today. How are you feeling?"

"Not bad. I know Gabe's not showering me in love, but that fight was a complete fluke, I'm not going to beat myself up over it. It would have been nice to have a positive class feat, but I'm a wizard all my strength is in my spells, and I'm getting level two today, win or lose. We learned that Charisma attacks are very strong, and I'm packing 6 of those with my spells, which is going off my int, which is a match for Lana's or Daisy's charisma. Or it was until Daisy leveled up. Listen this is a normal thing, Wizards start slow, but they snowball. I need the team to carry me, and at some point, the balance will shift in my favor."

"Wonderful, Anna was a little bit more down about her placement. It's good to see you in high spirits. Now, yesterday you pulled the most expensive item out of anyone in the group. How did shopping go today?"

"Well I'm actually returning the money I borrowed from the pot, so I abstained from shopping this week. Once I see Vera I'll be making my deposit. But if you want to know what I'm thinking, those Halfling hair ties are calling my name, those are really going to help me out in the future. But I got both hands full and armor, so I'm pretty well set. I guess I'm just buying my time until level five, where I can get a new staff."

"I should have known you'd memorize the charts!"

"Any chance of posting all the advances and feats we can get as we advance. It'd really help me plan out our builds."

"Sorry, these things are shrouded to even me."

"I bet they are. I told him, you know."

"Oh yes, I saw. And as predicted, it sent him spiraling."

"No it didn't... okay, it did but only a little. A natural reaction when someone finds out they've been lied to!"

"Jasmine tried so hard to get him to stop second-guessing himself, and look what you've laid upon him. A wife, a wish, a worry about who he's favoring, or who he's not."

"Greetings Nights, your pockets were refreshed with coin, did you buy anything of interest?"

"I'll say. I bought some Thieves Tools, ropes hooks, weights, picks, various things to help me disarm traps, and locks and stuff. That's the main purpose of a rogue, I figured I'd contribute something other than stolen goods to the team."

"That's mighty big of you."

"My second purchase was an Eros Whip, these beauties are made only in the Drow Dungeons. They're made of spidersilk, and soaked in certain poisons. Anyone struck by one of these takes damage to their will instead of their health, as the pleasure these things an inflict is immense. So now I can nuke down a person's health or Will it doesn't matter I'm going straight in and attacking wherever they're weakest."

"That's exactly the approach I'd expect from you. Forget all about shoring up your weaknesses, just go straight for the enemy's."

"Don't sleep on it, this whip is going to be doing weapon damage to will, pound for pound I'm going to be doing more will damage per hit than anyone, and I'm already doing more physical damage per hit too. My spot on the team is secure. I got unlucky with that last match up, I would have creamed anyone else, and Even Jasmine got lucky against me. I'm going to prove it today."

"Love that confidence. How are you feeling about the social side of things?"

"I am so fucked."

"Hard to sugar coat the situation, is it not?"

"Gabe hated me before the game, I haven't gotten any time with him to change that, even if I did get time I wouldn't have changed it, because, frankly he hates me for perfectly reasonable... um reasons."

"Like what?"

"I'm an unlikeable bitch."

"Sometimes we should endeavor to at least try and sugar coat things."

"And that was all before I attacked Lana out of the blue. What the fuck was that, I had no control over myself."

"It's the same as when Jasmine acts friendly to Gabe, or Anna worships him. Your other life simply took over for a minute."

"You told me there was almost no difference between my two lives. You told me I had to overcome my own shit to get out of this."

"When you first met Lanna did you say anything snipping and hurtful to her?"

"What? I... I don't know?"

"Fine, yes I can all but guarantee I said something. She lives with her parents and is a theater major. The insults write themselves."

"So think of it as a metaphor, Night the human attacks those around her with snark, and jokes, Night the Drow does it with rope."

"That's not a metaphor! I really attacked her! I'm fucked once Gabe finds out. It's a simile."

"That's the word, yes thank you. The point is it's a character trait reflective of what you were like in life. Lanna had something you wanted, you went after her without thinking. Break one behavior, break the other."

"That hardly seems fair. I was a bitch, but... this thing I'm sharing a head with is a monster."

"It's not fair no, it would have been easier for you if Gabe picked another body. But this is the form he thought suited you best. You have to come to terms with that."

"It's odd to have done, and experienced so much in my life and to find that it's all amounted to a level 1. I have boots older than some of these contestants, and they out-level me now."

"That is a bit hard to square, I understand. However, if you do well into today's event, you'll find rewards for your old age there."

"Looking forward to it. Thought my fight against Lana was exciting, I hardly think I'll be taking the story home to the grandkids."

"So it was exciting for you? Even though you lost."

"Oh yes, I enjoy a vigorous debate. Besides that, it's always interesting to experience a moment when your opinion on something changes. I admit that I was being judgemental and illiberal to my roommate. She had a beautiful body and should be able to display it how she likes. And I don't have to be ashamed to see her like that. It's her art, and I'm opening to enjoying it."

"Have you been... enjoying it?"

"Oh how embarrassing... yes. I find her quite fetching."

"Now that we've got a blush on your face, how did shopping go today?"

"Wonderfully, I'm fully suited out now. I bought a pair of Boots of Elvenkind. That gives me an extra point of dexterity, and because I have an elven cloak, I get a bonus +1 to my initiative as well."

"Going for a little extra speed huh?"

"I really needed to go before Lana in that last match, and then I kept missing her. This should let me go before my opponents in battle, and hit more often.

"Good thinking. I hope it pays off for you. I'd love to see some of the stragglers catch up."

"There's our big girl, Level 4! How doth it feel being twice the level of most of the harem?"

"Great! Um... did you save me from the humans skinning me alive?"

"Well I had to buy a new set of spidersilk armor, thanks to Night. 3BP down the drain. Then I wandered over to the Evangelical tent and bought myself a Potion of twinning. I'm going to use it to copy Lana's counter Charm ability. That way my Attack and resistance to Charisma Attacks will scale off my Charisma. I'll basically be unstoppable!"

"The potion of Twinning only allows you to copy personal or Heritage feats. Class feats are earned from training and skill."

"I hate you, I really do."

"Can't make your road to world domination too easy madame president."

"What even are the heritage feats right now? A foot fetish?"

"The foot fetish one, which we already know Gabe would like. Lana's exhibitionist tendencies, Ana's prayers, and Jasmine's new trait, which lets her challenge a person and buff a skill if she beats them. You have options."

"Yes but none of them gives me a seven on my will saves."

"Tragic I know."

"Fine, whatever. I guess I'll die. Send me back to the humans, I got a skinning to get to."
